As I get older, I realized I'm just not in that much of a hurry anymore. And I really, really don't want to hit a kid, so I'll drive slow thru towns.

Freeway though, that's 80 mph.

Yeah but are you in the fast lane

No such thing as a fast lane on roads that aren’t highways or freeways

[–] Asfalttikyntaja@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

Life in the fast lane, surely make you lose your mind.

Boo this slow town driver

[–] marduk@lemmy.sdf.org 16 points 2 weeks ago

"Slow down, this ain't the mainland!"

Bro, this is the legit face I see going 85 on 430 getting passed by octogenarians! Shit is wild in the middle of nowhere!

Til little Rock is the middle of nowhere..

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Conway, but yeah. I came from Miami, so it seems very small in comparison.

They finish that rework of the 40 interchange yet? I haven't been through there in about a year or so.

When I was driving trucks, I'd come up 530 to LR, then head west to FS, it was a pretty regular run for me.

Not only that, they fucking finally finished the widening of the highway to hot springs! So it's three lanes on both sides on 40 until Malvern and two lanes with a median on 70! Shit is fucking magical to anyone who had to travel it a few years ago.

Nice. Now if y'all can only figure out how to get the boot back from us. Geaux tigers. 🤣

Ok, 1; fuck you for Saturday. And 2; Kade and Karena was a pretty heart warming thing to see.

I just chill when I drive. If there's a speed minimum, I obey it, but otherwise I'm just out there to relax and have a good time. I don't even look at people's faces when they pass. I'm not doing anything wrong. If they're mad, they need to get over it. (My bf hates driving with me.)

[–] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’m the same. Giving yourself an extra 15 minutes more than you expect the commute to take will save you hours when you don’t have to deal with hitting someone later.

[–] swelter_spark@reddthat.com 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Blasting down the road might save you about 3 minutes on an hour and a half trip, as best I can tell. It doesn't seem worth the stress or the danger of causing an accident or getting pulled over.

This is actually my grandma. She would would always give middle finger too. Her road rage is crazy. But so is her rage so its on brand.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 2 weeks ago

I keep telling my partner that she should keep about a dozen hammers in her car so that I can chuck them at other drivers through the window. She has yet to take me up on the idea.

[–] PyroNeurosis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks for sharing this- I was too busy watching the road, and didn't notice.

If you get this upset from someone driving below the speed limit, then you should not be driving.

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 5 points 2 weeks ago
[–] monkeyslikebananas2@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

But what if they are on the fast lane below the speed limit?

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 7 points 2 weeks ago

People should keep right except to pass, typically.

Over short distances, the difference between going 40 and 30 or even 20 are miniscule. I've still had people lose their shit when I wouldn't blaze through a school zone. Just chill out bro, the fast food will be there all day.

But I live somewhere I don't need to drive anymore, and I'm happy with it.

[–] crazyhotpasta@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Thank god you'll get fined for driving below the speed limit where I live.

[–] pinball_wizard@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

Rear driver chooses a following distance.

Front driver chooses a speed, adjusted for the following distance.

[–] bricklove@midwest.social 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Then I feel bad when the driver is an older person with a kind demeanor

[–] TimewornTraveler@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago

in a just world, not one centered around corporate interests, you would lose your license for this. instead, the automotive industry has to ensure that there's plenty of drivers to buy their cars, so we can't be too harsh on our licensing laws.

I guess it doesn't matter. 50,000 deaths per year due to traffic accidents is a fair price to pay for the freedom to sit in traffic.
