Definitely. I've seen transphobes think they're playing 4D chess by calling other people transphobic if they dismiss their "b-but what about transracials and attack helicopters!!" arguments lmfao

Except that it is 100% a bad-faith “question” and it’s only a clever work-around to people that are too stupid to understand nuance. It’s the transphobe equivalent of “checkmate, atheists” and it’s not worth a damn thing.

Yes, the logic behind the phrase is questionable, but it perfectly explains why it isn't "subtle" -- it never even meant to be.
