I was browsing my list of communities and realized I haven't heard anything from this one for a while. I really treasure hearing from other women with ADHD and knowing I am not alone.

What can we do to bring more life to this community? What would you like to see more of? Memes? Articles? Check-ins? Something else?

I know we are limited by Lemmy's small userbase, but we can still have a small thriving community.

Let's brainstorm together :) Appreciate all of your ideas!

I was gonna make a joke about ADHD and losing interest but keep posting interesting articles, videos even memes. Remember, 90% of people only lurk and never post. If you helped to educate even 1 person, you have contributed to society. Kia kaha.

That's a great point about most people lurking. I just want to make sure it doesn't become a one-person show, you know?

Well, this is a pretty niche community to begin with... ADHD Women on Lemmy? How many of you are there?! /hj
Still, the community won't die as long as people post!!! I saw this on All/Hot, so surely other people will as well. There'll always be someone out there; just post whatever, no need to overthink it in this case, IMO.

That being said, judging by the feed, memes is probably a great way to raise engagement. The people love memes!! Something else that could be cool would be sharing content from women with ADHD or that you relate to. Do you have a favourite streamer or YouTuber? Audiobooks or games you like? Maybe other women with ADHD might appreciate recommendations like that, from their peers, y'know. ADHD music? IDK.

I'm not an ADHD Woman, but hopefully my opinion still counts on this!

Your opinion totally counts, and your ideas are awesome! I figured with 1.29k subs there are plenty of us to make up a thriving community. I'll see what I can find and post!

And I was actually pretty impressed with the membership for such a niche group! Gave me hope and a smile and I’ll make more of an effort to post and comment for my fellow ADHD women friends.

All of the above, but I think periodic check-ins would get some engagement at the very least. Memes are fun and articles are informative, but unfortunately we're a bunch who's usually into whatever our hyper-focus du jour is, and it's not always going to be our ADHD. So I see those two as hit or miss, unless someone is dedicated.

But check-ins don't require forethought or planning (except for whoever starts the thread) and we can just pop into the thread to vent or laugh at ourselves or whatever.

Ooh, you make a great point that we won't always be posting about ADHD and it might be about out current hobby or something. I think check-ins are a great idea!

I am not one to post much and mostly just lurk sadly. I get a bit stressed out over making comments and posts. I'm just posting right now to say hello and provide my support to this post. I think the ideas people have mentioned are great. Maybe we could start some discussion posts on different topics (adhd related or not, could be women's stuff or anything really) so people can share their experiences.
