I mean, pretty much everything we knew a month ago casts doubt on their claims.

I'm over here castin doubt on the legitimacy of the entire current administration.
It is notable that, in its attempt to keep Mr. Abrego behind bars, the government has already promised leniency to three people in their immigration proceedings, including the leader and a member of a domestic smuggling operation,” the lawyers wrote. “The former has been deported five times and has two prior felony convictions, and yet the government has granted him deferred action on deportation in exchange for his testimony, early release from prison to a halfway house, and is likely to grant him work authorization.” “All to ensure,” the lawyers added, “that Mr. Abrego ‘will never go free on American soil.’”
I'm unclear on how granting leniency to a completely unrelated person has anything to do with the ability to continue to hold Kilmar in violation of court order.
They're probably giving him leniency in exchange for testifying that Garcia is the head of a criminal conspiracy
I mean, the quote gives up the game. That "completely unrelated person" is being given better treatment in exchange for testifying against Mr Abrego. Republicans would rather 2-3 actual criminals be given leniency than this high-profile man further embarrass their illegal, unethical decisions.
Sounds like they were Trumped-up charges.
