It's amazing how shit the Merc is when it's hot.
Karun Chandhok on sky commentary just said Red Bull hasn't had a second driver pushing for results since Riccardo. How do people forget how good Perez actually was. It's clear that Max is just on another level, but Perez worked some miracles to be as close as he was (at times)
I find it easy to forget Perez's highs, as they get overshadowed by the long, downwards spiral he was on at the end. In contrast, Ricciardo left while being closer to an equal to Max. That's the image my memory is painting, anyway.
I was thinking the same thing. He was even fighting Verstappen at the start of the season a few years back. (I forget which year it was, but Perez won almost every street race I think)
Norris and Piastri held it together throughout the whole race, only to crash into each other when they're getting weighed
It was bound to happen ๐
Disaster day for Red Bull at their home race. Tsunoda in last place with a 10s penalty and Verstappen DNF means no points today.
Omg Albon retirement again! 3 races in a row.
It's bizarre, Williams have to have fucked up their cooling or something right?
I think Saintz's brakes were stuck on, rather than it being a cooling issue
Oh, I was talking of Albon and all his recent DNFs. Sainz was a clear break issue I agree.
God damn that move from Antonelli was... optimistic.
First out
Give him some juice
Needs to download some more RPM
need the Mario kart speed boost
Yuki I love you but maybe it's time to become a full time chef.
Verstappen was tagged and spun! Chaos.
He's out!
Antonelli too!
Really too bad for Sainz.. what a pity.
I can't help but root for Williams, and things were looking promising this season... But jesus, what an unlucky string of races for the team
That was very cool - we had Alonso and Bortelleto two laps behind, then Tsunoda another lap behind, then Norris and Piastri in the lead all within a couple of corners
yeah cool race but thanks to the mclaren for the show tbh
Rooting for Bortoleto to score points today.
Track temperature 49 degrees !! hot hot! Track fire will be the bonus today. ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Papaya race
Decent race by the two Sauber
F1TV to be renamed MclarenTV soon
Hamilton got past just in time before the safety car
Sainz stuck on grid.
Williams have been having weird reliability issues for the past 2-3 races.
I said the fire is the bonus!
Oh no Ferrari ๐คก
Hamilton: I don't want to pit now
Ferrari: Yes you do
Hamilton: I don't want to change tires
Ferrari: Yes you do
Why are Ferrari always like this ๐ญ
We need a double DNF for McLaren soin, to help keep the championship fight interesting.
well this mclaren race is interesting and yeah it smells like DNF.
"Mate I had no grip" ~Kimi probably lol
Could be in for some interesting strategies this race, one-stop should be very very hard on this tarmac and in this heat, but several teams either are locked into it or will have to use the softs. And the softs don't look good here.
Hopefully the pace of Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull is good or else this could be a snoozer with Norris just driving into the sunset.
What a race. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
last 5 laps on the wire...
Uh oh, those front-left McLaren mechanics are gonna get a talking to afterwards..
