Big media capitulation (www.theguardian.com)
submitted 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) by griff to c/usnews@lemy.lol

Donald Trump has reached a $16m settlement with Paramount, the parent of CBS News, over what he claimed was false editing of a pre-election interview with the Democratic candidate for president, Kamala Harris, in what is likely to be seen as a further example of capitulation by media companies hoping to smooth the waters with Trump.

The settlement is the latest example of media corporate parent companies making concessions to Trump and the Trump administration, which frequently casts unfavourable coverage as “fake news”.

Overly biased post, OP. The decision to include only the first two paragraphs - which were obviously written by The Guardian to make Paramount look bad for "capitulating" - deliberately fails to mention the fact Paramount refused to pay him directly (instead either to his presumed presidential library, or to charities at his discretion), or admit any wrongdoing. Considering how long this has dragged on, preventing the merger they've been working on since well before he was in office again, it's mildly impressive they managed do even just this little in order to move on. Business is business, and they held their ground pretty well while also doing what they had to in order to get past this roadblock.

IMHO, such selective inclusion of information makes your post no better than the Trump legal team spin (for which I hope they get sued once Paramount finishes their merger):

A spokesperson for Trump’s legal team told the Wall Street Journal that the settlement was “another win for the American people as he, once again, holds the Fake News media accountable for their wrongdoing and deceit”.
