Was a good idea to come down here. Needed this. Back tm though but that's okay.

Got a shitload done. Good escape.

And..

First fire in about a year down here.

I am so so very lucky to be able to use this place no questions asked. Mental health wise it is a godsend rn. The space, shit to do, beach.

Enjoy man. Sounds like you've had a real hard few weeks :)

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago

That looks really nice. 😊

While out for my grocery shop I ran into an old friend and we ended up catching up for awhile on things.

I didn’t want to leave but I was coming to the end of my free parking.

Had a good time!

omg omg omg

we are going to visit a beach right on the Pacific Ocean tomorrow , not on a bay, right on the ocean

I think I will go in the water a bit πŸ˜€ just a little

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 9 points 1 week ago (3 children)

So I got my sleep study results back after a fair wait. Yeah it turns out that not breathing might be the reason for the fatigue. Off to dig into savings and go CPAP shopping I think (#thuglife)

I am low key excited - maybe I can function like a real person finally. Any tips from anyone else in the mask club?

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If you have any annoyances that can be solved with 3d printed parts, hmu. Mate of mine had me make him a custom bendy thing for his hose 'cos it kept snagging on his bespoke nightstand

Had to have a serious chat to the team today.

I've put a target on my back by giving them a lot of autonomy and they were starting to get complacent.

I got the message across I think, without being too confrontational.

Hmm my Aunty tried to ring me.

I let it ring out.

A couple of weeks ago she tried to persuade me again to get the others to agree to the settlement of the will.

I refused to do it and told her so.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Nothing to screw a family up quite like fighting over a will.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago

Tell me about it.

I told her last time I’m not in contact with any family members and I don’t want to be involved.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago

what is worse is not challenging a fake will 😑

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm stressed just reading your post.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You don’t need to get stressed.

If I had answered the phone I would have pushed back quite hard and yelled at her.

She’s trying to use me and I know it.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

At least she calls you and isn't just going behind your back

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It’s something but she’s trying to get me to get in contact with everyone and to sway their vote so to speak.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm sorry, this is just triggering me into remembering how abusive FIL's last wife was and how she forged the will

I have a deep rage regarding everyone involved, cowards and fools the lot of them

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you, it sounds really awful what you went through.

Yay: I'm getting a bonus! I totally forgot they give them out at this time of the year

Nay: not sure how to handle tax vs salary sacrifice into super. Especially with having to wait one whole year to claim any additional tax back.

I kinda really really need the cash so think I'll take most of it as cash even though it'll be taxed to all buggery. I swear to god I have not had to think so much about tax rules my whole life until this year.

Think I've caught something. Got a solid 10 hours of sleep last night, the just slept all day after getting my partner up for work. Just could not keep my eyes open.

I'm awake now, but I'm so so drowsy and blegggghhhh

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago

That's no good. Try to take it easy if you can.

Chicken soup might help too πŸ“πŸ²

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Melbcat is being very squeaky and squirmy. She’s learned to cry for the heater to go on, for extra snacks of wet food, and sometimes for no reason I can see. I’m hoping she’s just jealous of the computer getting attention. Maybe she just wants love.

I’m playing games way too much but right now it’s just what I’m doing.

3 times the dog went in and out the front door last night. The 4th time he tried I said "No. Go to bed". He repaid me by ralphing on the carpet.

Had that work efficiency session at the start of the week and I think I figured something out about why AI has been such a top down push in the workplace.

A member of the global leadership team was in the sessions, and she's all in on AI. She was telling us about all the work she was getting done with it, and it was just things like reports, presentations, communications plans, and risk strategies.

It's all just typing up a bunch of stuff that gets turned into PDFs and sits on the company Sharepoint. She's at a high enough level now she's not working on any of the implementation, so you can use AI to just write everything for you.

Really, you could probably download templates for all these documents and change the details specific to your business. It would be much better for the environment, but these people wouldn't feel like they're doing anything meaningful if they're just playing corporate madlibs.

I could use AI in a bit of my work, but I need to make Facebook ads, emails, and manage a website. AI can't do any of that, it's just an elaborate autocomplete.

And it's telling the perspective on AI is 'Look at all this amazing work I'm getting done with AI' and not 'The iPhone autocomplete can do my job faster than me, what's the point of my job?'

One of my only applicable use cases was a business case document. Copilot just wrote the most boring version of an SEO friendly article on Viva Engage, and even then I felt I had to step in and write some things myself to both make it more interesting and specific to the business. And say this goes ahead, AI can't put people into Viva Engage groups for me.

The CEO of the last place I was at was exactly the same with AI.

So fucking stupid.

Start work in 9 mins. Currently in bed. Good thing it's WFH day. This might be a job for coffee....

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago

Woke up at 6 to turn off my 630 alarm. Which I didn't. Got up just after 7 regardless and still trying to internal engine started.

Today might be struggle town.

2.5h left... On the plus side I got an unexpected Monday off! 3 day weekend wooo

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago

Had an excellent swim with a new best amount of laps in a row which feels bloody excellent. Hopefully haven't killed myself for the class tomorrow.

Now for wine, because balance. πŸ₯‚

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago

I hadn't been following any news about The Pitt for a while but all the allegations coming out now about Tracy Ifeochor (Dr Collins) being asked to leave and not being in s2 are really sad. I can't believe she is part of a virulently homophobic church that promotes conversion therapy. Like how do you even get into TV and film acting in the modern era with these kinds of strongly held beliefs? Puts a new spin on her portrayal of a character handling some difficult conversations about abortion...

Last day of my late-shift week. It has been a struggle but I've survived (so far). 7.30 can't come soon enough!

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

May beer o'clock come quickly for you.

Getting better at drums.

If I slow the part down by 50% and play it a few times I can speed back up and play it well most of the time.

I kinda like being a beginner with an instrument. I love that learning experience when you go from nothing to doing reasonably wel.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago

Pork roast is in the oven for dinner. I had a big piece so I've cut it in half and will do some sort of pulled pork for tacos with the other half. I put it on late so it won't be ready for a while, I might need to organise cheese and crackers to tide me over until then.
