I survived day one of my new job and nobody is obviously crazy, I'll take this as a win.
The good news: there is an office dog (!).
The bad news: the office dog (and her mum) is on leave for next few weeks and the office is currently dogless.

How unfathomably mean to provide office doggo and then renege! But that's fantastic that your first day has not yielded any red flags. Hopefully it continues to be decent.
Just want to thank everyone again for the support w/ all this stuff. Means a lot.
Today's activity is spraying oxalis w/ aerogard, glyphosate (hate that shit) and burning with the weed burner thing. in a few weeks getting a large unsafe branch lopped so will have the mulch to double down.
I was told I won't win but with a 'fuck everyting if you're oxalis' mentality I have a chance.
I'm surprised the aerogard works so quickly. Literally within the hour it ded. Just hope it's transported to the bulbs. The ones I did a few months ago haven't bounced so.. with any luck...
Cranky janky mood dissolved after a fantastic, uplifting and inspiring one on one with friend (and great food, and a walk both ways due to being in my hood).
I feel blessed to have friends like her - so deeply intelligent, capable and adventurous yet more than happy to get in the weeds with little ol' me ๐
so many hugs, and dare I say, she is lucky to have a friend like you, one so expressive, honest, kind and steady ๐
So good to have a nice catch up with a friend, and Iโm glad youโre feeling better
Instruments of oxalis DOOOOM
Probably shouldn't have had the aerogard so close the weed burn thing lol.
Oxalis is one of my sworn foes (stupid thing leaving little bulbils in when you try to yank em out) so that's pretty rad that there's a way to really deal with them. I could really go for some therapeutic weeding atm
My mother used to grow oxalis flava, light pink ones and white ones, as a traditional Dutch flowering bulb
I love the soft grey leaves. They are very resilient too, surviving harsh sun and drought.

Lonny sea wall doing its thing:
There was a poor doggo that a couple was walking on the foreshore just as that wave hit and the little thing wasn't very impressed.
beautiful ๐
In the next episode of 'that's a bad idea for a weed burner' we have:
Do you not own an oven?
The weed burner thing does the cooking now.

My PC has the ability to connect to WiFi, except it won't. Password and whatnot are correct, but it just won't get the internet. BUT! If I connect to WiFi on my phone, and then hotspot it, the PC can connect to that. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
I'm gonna have to go into the router settings or something to have my pc be able to connect to the WiFi. I just have big CBF vibes today ๐

Goodnight allโค๏ธ
Nice personal day off so far. Nap in the sun with cat, time for some video games.
Edit: damn was a great nap. Destiny 1 is a great game.
YL bought this for her dad today. With her own money too. She says she bought it because she always buys stuff for me and dad would like it.
I wrote my work to-do list for the week and it's depressing, I have really fallen behind. I really need to be productive this week. Hopefully the small thrill of crossing off items keeps me going but for the last few weeks I have been really lacking motivation.
it's late here,
Good night, sweet dreams everyone ๐
Just SO cranky and short-fused today. Didn't help that I woke up late and realised I was late for a job I'd been assigned. I was super perfectly productive after but I feel no satisfaction at all. Meeting up with a friend for dinner and feeling kind of ugh about not being in the right frame of mind, hopefully it gets better after! ... though I haven't heard from her all day despite sending a message to check in, ~~if she's forgotten about it or had to cancel less than an hour ahead of time I'll just be all justifiably sad and angry in my cave lol.~~ okay never mind she replied. Me and my oversensitive nervous system today
hugs and enjoy this cup of tea and cookie ๐ต๐ช๐ค
Slow roasted a chunk of deboned lamb shoulder for dins. Marinated in lemon & garlic and a bit of star anise (not much but it made a tasty difference from the usual). Even though I made a total pig of myself there are plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. I feel a real shepherd's pie coming on.
We went to the local waterfall today. It was loud and beautiful. ๐
Love that second piccy. Looks amazing.
The "feels like" temp has hit 3.3^o^ so I'm heading out for a walk to enjoy the warmth ๐คฃ
I have pork on the stove slow cooking to make pulled pork tacos for dinner.
Afternoon activities will be putting together my new compost bin, then a bit more sorting. I need to at least sort out some of the stuff in the garage so I can get my car out to go to work tomorrow morning. At the moment it has a bunch of cardboard boxes stored on top of it as well as boxes pushed right up against it to give me space to put shelves together.
putting together my new compost bin
I hope it's not one of those flat packed rolly ones.
I lost about a quarter of my hair figuring out those. I've done 2, I will not be doing 3 lol. They do work well though.
It's not a rolly one and no hair was harmed during assembly. It's an Aerobin, insulated and with an air tube down the middle that is supposed to mean you don't need to turn it.
Do not believe the 'you don't need to turn it' for an instant. All compost goes better and faster if aerated thoroughly and regularly. The lickle worrums just loove their oxygen. Better moisture regulation too if aerated.

Hi chef! I've been waiting. Can I please have a classic American breakfast?
My body is maaaaaad. Owwie knee, upset tummy, bit of a headache. Opted to wfh today (enjoying it while I can!) and already wanting to just call it and go back to bed. ๐ญ
I need my breakfast. Where is chef
Ya gotta rub the kettle then a chef appears.
Saying our name three time might also work

I have been buying some touristy New Zealand things from museum shops and op shops. This is my favourite so far.
I'm not sure how old this is, it has a 1950-60s look.
It can be much older. I've got an embroidery sampler that's almost 200 years old.
The taco plan didn't work out as I couldn't find my rolling pin for the tortillas. I made a pulled pork roll instead. It was still very yummy and I have four serves of pork in the freezer for future tacos.
I managed enough sorting in the garage that I can get my van out, and put together a couple more sets of shelves inside so I can get a bit more stuff put away inside.
"Looks lifelike"?! I hope these people never have care of an actual meat cat.
