Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

I was. We walked around aimlessly in the forest, occasionally yelling out the missing girl's name. Then it turned out to be a drill and the girl was fine. We were yelled at for being shit searchers, and were told that she'd be dead if it was real. I thought it was an extremely unreasonable thing to do, because we were just a bunch of teenagers on a camping trip and nobody had ever told us how to do a proper grid search so how the fuck were we supposed to know how to do it? It was a surreal experience.

Anyway we were mostly dressed in what we wore into our sleeping bags because we were pulled out of our tents in the middle of the night.

No, but I've been looking for one

Is that a search party search?

I’ll show myself out

Quick, we must organise a search party search party! Let's run through town shouting "SEARCH PARTY! WHERE ARE THOU?"

Don't you dare come to me with a 'We need more research'-excuse.

You can't eat until you find the Dufresne.

How does a party of two just disappear! We have to go find them!

Someone knocked on my door, asking if I had seen a missing person. I hadn't. I asked if I could join the search, they told me where to go to volunteer.

Long story short: They handed me a high-visibility vest with their logo on to wear. I had to return it.

Yeah, when a friend's daughter went missing. Whole neighborhood was out looking for her. She ended up being found chilling with some cows. She was like 4yo lol.

Dress code: stomping around in the woods. Boots, heavy pants, long socks.

In high school, my entire grade was "invited" to search for a missing junior high student. The dress code was "wear your gym clothes so you don't ruin your regular clothes while tramping through the woods."

Sadly, we didn't find her.

Was she found by others from the community or is she still missing?

[–] Agrivar@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hmmm. Let's just say that the story doesn't have a happy ending...

Too many details could allow a diligent person to dox me just based on what little I've already said.

Gross.

  • wrong state
  • I'm not a killer... yet.
  • "Sadly, we didn't find her."

Boots and pants. It wasn't that fun. But we did get to ride quads so, actually it was a little fun.
