I have lived in the US my entire life and besides our national parks I can't imagine any reason anybody would even want to visit the US

Maybe to visit the grand canyon, Vegas, or Hawaii, but other than that there is nothing here that you can't find of better quality elsewhere.

Other countries have prettier parks that aren't being shuttered or fracked. Our products are overpriced, and our food (much of which isn't even ours) is unhealthy at best.

Our country used to be safe for tourists but that is no longer the case under the current government. To add on to it, you have to bribe your way in.

Stay away. Do not visit here unless you are on the brink of death and are trying to get something off of your bucket list.

The parks are really wonderful. We always wanted to hike the Appalachian trail. But honestly, moved our plans to a more welcoming country...

With the world avoiding the US, I'm sure THAT will bring more people in.

That's $1000 for a family of 4.

Isn’t that the point tho?

I'm sure in the future the "integrity fee" will vary depending on the country. Mexico and other brown people places, the fee will be $30k per person. Japan, less. Maybe $1000 per person. Scary Muslim places will be $250k or more.

Between FIFA being FIFA and Trump being Trump, the World Cup in the US is going to be emptier than the club World Cup.

I hope you're correct, but I get the feeling it'll be packed if nothing else at least with Americans. We do love a good corrupt spectacle, have you taken a look at our president?

That's assuming the teams show up. If I were brown I'd be really hesitant to go to the US. Hell, I'm white as can be and I don't wanna go.

Lot of money on the line for those people and their families. Their morals might be strong, but in the end I think you'd be surprised how often certain other realities win out.

inb4 there are fixers who ensure your ICE-safety for a little fee. Looking at the situation now I'm surprised such protection racket institution is not there yet.

5 million dollar gold card.

With an obscene portrayal of a women and Trump's personal signature in the place of her pubic hairs.

Few people are going to want to tour the US. Fewer businesses people will want to explore business opportunities in the US. Fewer students will want to pursue a US education and if they do, they will be less willing to stay after.

Ironically, this fee doesn't affect undocumented immigrants.

You couldn't pay me to visit America.

[–] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 months ago

and the trip ends with a free ride to Alligator Auschwitz Concentration (soon to be death) Camp.

I can't see the word 'Integrity' without hearing the Tegridy Farms intro

Another reason to not set foot in the USA in this lifetime. We are actually planning to go to Toronto this year. My wife found quite cheap tickets from Wien...
