Mine will last until there is major reform. Trump is just the most visible expression of some very deep issues in the country. It might fade away when he dies, but it's still going to be there.

Yep. This tick-tock style of diplomacy is exhausting. My wallet is the only way I have to give a middle finger to it.

When he dies there will be a successor. Who’s younger and smarter.

I will keep boycotting America long after the Trump regime falls until they stop their imperialist ambitions, hold their war criminals accountable and reform their democracy to be stronger than ever before.

Sounds like a long assignment. I'm with you there.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 month ago

Fuck that. Fuck the US.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 month ago

I'm still picking away at the connections to US companies, eliminating one subscription at a time. I intend to avoid US products and avoid visiting the USA until it's no longer under fascist rule. In the meantime, we need to work to prevent Canada going the same way when voters lose patience with Carney and the Liberals.

The question wasn't totally accurate.

I'm not boycotting the States only because of tariffs.

I'm boycotting the States because they are a threat to Canada and the rest of the world.

I'm boycotting the States because I don't think we should have a relationship with a rapist President who embodies the worst human qualities.

I'm boycotting the States because Canada is stronger when my money is put back into the country.

I'm boycotting the States because they can't be trusted, and their regressive policies targeting immigrants, women, seniors, the LGBT community, science, or the environment, isn't something I want any part in.

How long I expect this to last vs how long I’ll boycott is not really the same answer. The more we can shift what’s in stores the better. There are so many good products out there and so many friendly countries making stuff, boycotting the US is really not super hard and will only get easier. The US should be very worried (I know they aren’t).

Haha looks like BC finally beats Quebec in a metric! Boycott America, elbows up!

[–] alsimoneau@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What do you mean? QC has more "permanent boycott" and less "before Trump term ends".

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago

If you add the various forms of boycott in total Quebec ends up with 91.5% while BC is at 91.9%

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago

Everything is temporary we only have one life to live, I cannot boycott longer than that! I hope this boycott leads to more development outside of the US so that the world does not need the US.

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I understand after Trump's term ends, but before? Wtf?

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago

Yup, looks like too many have spines of jelly.

[–] alsimoneau@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

About 30%, that tracks with conservative voters.

[–] CircaV@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago

Mines a permanent boycott. Fuck the fascist USA. Someone else worse and younger will take up the Trump stance. It’s baked into their stupidass country. Mines a forever boycott, the US is dead to me.

[–] UheldigeBenny@feddit.dk 4 points 1 month ago

Complete boycott.. Canada-EU trade alliance need to be stronger..
