It's important to recognize too that the death camps were only the final solution to their problem of having too many prisoners. They started with regular concentration camps like the one built in Florida and worked up to the gas chambers later. They're following the Nazi playbook exactly.
Also worth noting that Nazis ripped this straight off what was happening in America in the same time period, though Americans stopped at forced sterilization.
Is forced the same as coerced, because if it is then there were multiple legal "forced" sterilizations in some parts of the u.s. up until just a few years ago.
Don't forget this also includes: people struggling with addiction and mental health issues. It's not just the homeless.
It also includes people who are loitering, a sufficiently broad definition that could be maliciously wielded against protestors.
It also stipulates that if hospitals are unavailable, jails will be used.
So it’s literally an order to allow them to throw anyone they want into prison.

I’m so fucking terrified tbh… I went in voluntarily last year and it got upgraded to involuntary after they accused me of lying during my assessment. Was physically assaulted and verbally abused. I got out after a day, but fuck, the nurse was joking about how since a weekend was coming up, they could keep me for five.

WaPo missing the fucking point and painting this as anything but what it is. It’s not AND, it’s OR. It’s not mental health facilities, it’s prison.
Here’s who it could impact:
- Anyone with mental health issues that could be deemed dangerous to themselves or others.
Anyone with depression (~36% of the U.S.) or who has said something off-color online. - Anyone who uses drugs.
Does your state have a legal weed program? Do they collect data on who purchases? Are they likely to give that data to the feds? Have you told your doctor/will they or their systems tell the feds? - Anyone who attends a protest that does not have a permit, or has the permit suspended during the protest, because then they are loitering.
As someone pointed out in a now-deleted post - this comes after Trump has offered Palantir unfettered access to U.S. citizen data. Unless a judge completely kills this, it will be massively abused.

Mental health is a very broad category. They already think trans people are crazy or that gay/bi people are deviants.

Trump’s order instructs agencies to prioritize funding to mental health and drug courts — and to not fund “harm reduction” programs that the administrations said facilitate illegal drug use.
Prioritize funding for mental health by not funding one of the few policy strategies that has shown any benefit to society in the last 40+ years of policy making.
I love when surviving reality under the GOP becomes an unsolvable riddle. It's like the other one they just gave us. "We're not making any cuts to Medicaid, but you can't have healthcare, unless you can prove you're working. Also, the economy is fucked, we're automating everything, and there are no jobs. Hospitals have plenty of places designed to keep people out, but not many that can keep people in. My grandmother broke out of her first dementia ward. Keeping people actually locked up and not in a place where they can simply walk the fuck out the door is insanely expensive because you actually have to feed and provide for them all day, every day and that takes way more manpower than simply PAYING FOR HOUSING.
There's a nice place in a swamp in Florida they just opened up where they're willing to pay for housing.
