Big fan of antignocchi myself. It's got that certain taste of total annihilation you can't get anywhere else.

[–] niktemadur@lemmy.world 32 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's actually happened.

To help describe the different particle configurations as you go into deeper and deeper layers of neutron stars - the way intense gravity plus pressure clumps the particles together - physicists have started referring to them as Gnocchi, Spaghetti and Lasagna.

Gnocchi are lumps of neutrons bunched together.
Spaghetti are strands of these Gnocchi.
Lasagna are sheets of these Spaghetti.

Throw the atoms against the wall and if they stick it confirms spaghetti theory is ready.

Appalled they called it antignocci and not torrone, but I'm not going to argue

[–] Tavarin@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Torrone is not a pasta!

Besides, we scientists like to name things anti-something, it's almost a compulsion.

[–] refurbishedrefurbisher@lemmy.sdf.org 9 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Waffles aren't pasta either

[–] Tavarin@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Well clearly the Italians didn't name that one, it was the damn Belgiums.

[–] Drewfro66@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Well, the Italian half of Belgium, anyways

[–] vzq@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 years ago

There is no flat pasta with holes. That’s a gap in our pasta topology that needs to be remedied asap.

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 5 points 2 years ago

Then why are there waffles on the list???? What kind of pasta is that??? What kind of italian is waffles??? Mamma mia!

[–] Bumblefumble@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

Gnocchi is also not a pasta.

[–] fossilesque@mander.xyz 5 points 2 years ago

It's an absolute scandal.

[–] alcoholicorn@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

I'm just glad they didn't call it swiss cheese

[–] Thorry84@feddit.nl 13 points 2 years ago

But would Antignocchi be considered an antipasto?

[–] audalics@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

It's cacio e pepe all the way down

Pattern recognition

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 4 points 2 years ago
