Attention!! beginner here.

Just got my hands on this Motherboard for free:

Was thinking of converting it to a NAS. My plan is to connnect two 4TB hdds to it and run TrueNas. It won`t get a lot of traffic and speed is not really a concern.

But the problem is it only got two Sata connectors and one PCIE 2.0 x1 slot, so afaik no room for the OS.

What would be the best and safest way to connect another drive for the OS?

If you refuse to use the PCIe slot, then get a different board

Put a storage controller in it?

You'll be bandwidth constrained, but you're also getting what you paid for the board
