Don’t forget about the bee and the guy who shot the blackstone ceo

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 26 points 4 days ago (3 children)

lets not forgot ceo of blackstone was shot, and the news is pratically not reporting it.

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Even when they are, they’re downgrading her position in the company to an “employee”.

[–] witten@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago (1 children)

She was the "CEO" of a Blackstone real estate trust, to be clear. Not of the whole company.

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

If that’s the perspective, then all CEO’s are employees. Being the CEO of a subsidiary is still a very high and noteworthy position.

[–] JandroDelSol@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

eh, that one wasn't a targeted attack. dude was actually trying to kill other people but got to the wrong floor. a dead CEO is good, sure, but dude wasn't a hero

What did the orca do?

Edit: nvm sunk a yacht

[–] grue@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Unfortunately, the orcas are attacking relatively small yachts, mostly less than 50' long. Here's some info about the ones they managed to sink recently (because the ones that were merely damaged don't tend to get named in the news articles and are thus harder to find info about):

yacht name model LOA ballpark value^1^
Champagne Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 519 52' ~$150-250k
Grazie Mamma II Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 449 45' ~$150-250k
Alboran Cognac Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 519 52' ~$150-250k
Bonhomie William Beneteau 393 Clipper 38' ~$80-150k

These are the kinds of sailboats that are chartered (rented) by upper-middle-class people on vacation or lived aboard full-time as a less-expensive alternative to owning a house (think nautical #vanlife). The victims of these attacks are not the billionaires you're looking for.

^1^ obtained by glancing at list prices for the same model on YachtWorld, without knowing anything about age or condition

You don’t just walk into a gym and bench press 800 lbs. You gotta work your way up. Give them time.

[–] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

Hey, they're doing the best they can.

[–] whyNotSquirrel@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

and no link? I have to do my own homework?!

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (2 children)
[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago

I’m here for it, but the real billionaire assholes are all in way bigger yachts, more like private navy vessels at this point.

why is an easy question. sinking yachts is fun

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago

Forgot the bee.

[–] otacon239@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Millionaire has about billion dollars difference between a billionaire. Those are rookie numbers, Mr. Buffalo.

[–] merc@sh.itjust.works 14 points 4 days ago

Yeah, I appreciate the enthusiasm. But, millionaires are a whole different species from billionaires.

$10k vs $1 million vs $1 billion in stacks of cash

[–] sheogorath@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

The Bee is a better candidate.

[–] vga@sopuli.xyz 10 points 4 days ago

Your aim is low if you're going against millionaires.

[–] toppy@lemy.lol 11 points 4 days ago

If orcas are given weapons and armor they will be able to do more damage.

One of those literally isn't in any shape to act again. Can't refill a crushed can with fresh soda.

[–] axEl7fB5@lemmy.cafe 6 points 4 days ago

build another one

[–] AoxoMoxoA@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

I generally don't like violent imagery but I want to see this guy get hooked by this amazing hero animal.

[–] SendMePhotos@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Wait was it by a buffalo or a water buffalo?

[–] lividweasel@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Cape buffalo, not an American bison or water buffalo

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

cape buffalo, of africa, different species synercerus vs bubalus. cape buffalo being from africa is extremely aggresive, you can find videos of them goring LIONs on the regular.

also unrelated to the bison.

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 days ago

Nice. Good job buffalo
