The announcements on Saturday of troops from hundreds of miles away in West Virginia, South Carolina and Ohio came a day after D.C. officials and the Trump administration negotiated a deal to keep Mayor Muriel Bowser's appointed police chief, Pamela Smith, in charge of the police department after D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb filed a lawsuit to block the federal takeover of the department.

If I keep destroying the country and get people worried about a civil war, maybe nobody will talk about all the pedophile stuff, or all the tariffs stuff, or all inflation stuff, or all the Russia stuff.

Interesting. When they show up from rural W. Virginia to Washington D.C., it might be a culture shock, and some might not want to go back.

I feel like it’s less calculated and more just punishment for people talking about Epstein generally. If he goes down he’s gonna try to take us with him.

I definitely wouldn't call it calculated. More like a desperate attempt to show force and remind people how much power he has.

As if anybody needs to be reminded he should not be in any position of authority. People like that can't understand that the harder they try to crack down, the more the weakness in their leadership shows. They don't know any other strategy other than to keep doubling down until somebody forces them to stop.

I live in a 'town' of less than 300 people in the mountains.

Some dude on my dirt road hill has a big fancy gate with all these warning signs "FUCK AROUND AND FIND OUT, PRIVATE PROPERTY, KEEP OUT".

Like dude, I'm way more afraid of the guy with no running water who built his outhouse on the front lawn and walks to it naked every day to shit, even in like -20°F. No one's afraid of your alcoholic paranoid ass.

It's kinda the same principal as a small animal puffing itself up in a fight sure it could do damage but it's still relatively harmless compared to the proper threat. The big threat isn't the guy making himself look tough, it's the dude who is currently trying to become one with the wallpaper at all times.

It's absolutely calculated, this was in project 2025. They told us they were going to do it and we still elected them

Blue states need to unleash their national guard in their own cities, but help the homeless, feed at soup kitchens, feed kids at school. Show who really cares for the people.

I mean there were concerns that the California national guard wasn't going to be available to prepare for wildfire season, so I assume at least that is one good thing they do for the community.

Show who really cares for the people.

Yeah that's why they're never gonna do it, because the Democrats don't care either and they know no one in power does. We won't feed the homeless, we won't feed kids at school, but we will fund the wars.

They had four years recently and generations of power previously to nip these issues in the bud. It's intentional. The Democrats like the violence.

The child-murdering machine cannot and should not be reformed. It should be destroyed.

Every school kid in my blue state can get lunch for free.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 12 hours ago

So West Virginia, South Carolina, and Ohio are currently more vulnerable. Noted.
