Do you think he hires his bodyguards straight out of high school because he wants to bring in fresh brains to 'disrupt' the security space? Do you think he's threatened if one of his bodyguards knows more about guns or can do more pushups than he can? Are yhey all just mindless yes men afraid to tell him 'No' if theres a security issue? Or does he value experience when it comes to his safety and can put his ego aside? Im actually curious about the dynamics given his track record with people working under him and his ludicrous hiring choices and process in the past.

If he could just stop ruining sci-fi books that would be great.

Capitalist scumbags live in golden prisons of their own making.

Meanwhile I can go almost anywhere on the planet alone without any major problems.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Yup.

Being wealthy would be cool, but being a celebrity, a well known person. Nah dawg. Major pass on that shit.

So many things you can't do anymore. Including basically all my favorite things. Sounds like a curse to me.

[–] philpo@feddit.org 8 points 1 day ago

To be honest as someone who works alongside these people occasionally: That's a rather small security detail and I know of people with far far less money that have bigger security details.

20 people is not even a close protection detail, a chase car and an advance party plus medics, even less so if you consider that some people will be off duty, etc.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Good.

That means he's scared.

21 round magazine isn't so hard to find.

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago

It's wild to me how Musk is proving (just like Trump is) how fundamentally weak and small he is.

Fred Rogers never had to travel with a single bodyguard.

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Is he still using his own child as a human shield?

[–] Opie1Smith@lemmy.today 10 points 1 day ago

He probably forgot him somewhere again

Lmao Apartheid Clyde's gonna be upside down on a lamp post one day <3

[–] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, someone with a high capacity magazine could make short work of even 20 guys. And they aren't gonna be able to do shit against any kind of explosives.

If one of them can be turned, and someone from Musk’s own security team goes Luigi, they’d be a hero and every single authoritarian across the globe would suddenly come to fear their own security squad.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

I mean, someone with a high capacity magazine could make short work of even 20 guys.

If they were a wizard who could magically appear within firing range, sure. But by then you're three layers deep into the Survivability Onion

A big part of personal security is to never be somewhere that a guy who wants to kill you will also be. That means keeping your schedule unpredictable, your route clear, your mode of transportation discrete or otherwise unassailable, and your physical presence obscured to the outside world.

Incidentally, in the last few years the FAA has made it much more difficult to track private aircraft.

If one of them can be turned

Strategically positioning all my guys

Remember when UHC got shot, musk started using one of his children as a human shield. He would often hold the shield in front of him, Everytime he does a press release

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 198 points 2 days ago (8 children)

Has he tried not being a human pile of feces?

Any history buffs?

Is there any similarities to Praetorian Guard with the rise of private security for these rich?

Like wasn't Rome at some point actually controlled by Praetorian Guards in secret because they were so powerful that the emperors couldn't defy them.

[–] bigfondue@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

In Musk's case they would be Pretorian Guards

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 108 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Elon Musk, father of 14 children was basically never seen with his kids until a CEO was shot. Now he always travels with at least one portable meat shield.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 57 points 2 days ago (6 children)

Father of 14 known children. The down low is apparently he pays women one million dollars to bear his child and she has to sign a non-disclosure agreement that she won't tell people it is his baby.

He is on record saying he wants to make a legion. That is around five thousand babies. He is one of the richest men in the world so this is within his reach. I am going to go throw up now.

Who is going to protect him from his own security personnel?

[–] wirebeads@lemmy.ca 58 points 2 days ago

Hopefully no one.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 44 points 2 days ago

Hopefully he just vets them by asking grok "should I hire these guys"

Good. Stay lonely with the gang of dudes you have to pay to hang around you and whose only job is to keep people away from you.

I just went to see a movie with a big group of friends and now getting a burger, before tonight I work on a creative project with some other friends who all really respect and appreciate each other's talents.

Something this fascist freak will never have.

Is the human shield kid a security professional too? By the time he's 18 he will have 16 years of bodyguard experience, the perfect employee just like in those entry level job ads.

[–] ThrowawayPermanente@sh.itjust.works 40 points 2 days ago (1 children)

For legal purposes he's a volunteer

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago (2 children)

For tax purposes, he's office equipment.

“Foundation Security” 🙄

Probably related to the Foundation series from Isaac Asimov and Musk’s absurd idea that he is remotely a figure in some such space story.

”Homicidal maniacs”? Do they need to be maniacs?

[–] matlag@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

Imagine if someone had travelled to the past to kill Hitler, failed, and then Hitler would include them in his speeches: "I already survived a homicidal maniac!".

[–] StarryPhoenix97@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

You can still do it!

[–] MangioneDontMiss@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Don't be a complete piece of shit and you won't need an army of bodyguards.

Is it fair to call someone who wants to kill the richest Nazi in the world, who wants to destroy western democracy and rule the world, a maniac?
