Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn, no politics, no trolling or ragebaiting.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.
  • 5. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Language/язык/Sprache
  • This is primarily an English-speaking community. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
  • Comments written in other languages are allowed.
  • The substance of a post should be comprehensible for people who only speak English.
  • Titles and post bodies written in other languages will be allowed, but only as long as the above rule is observed.
  • 6. (NEW!) Regarding public figuresWe all have our opinions, and certain public figures can be divisive. Keep in mind that this is a community for memes and light-hearted fun, not for airing grievances or leveling accusations.
  • Keep discussions polite and free of disparagement.
  • We are never in possession of all of the facts. Defamatory comments will not be tolerated.
  • Discussions that get too heated will be locked and offending comments removed.

Please report posts and comments that break these rules!

Important: never execute code or follow advice that you don't understand or can't verify, especially here. The word of the day is credibility. This is a meme community -- even the most helpful comments might just be shitposts that can damage your system. Be aware, be smart, don't remove France.

Did you at least become Batman out of it?

    [–] krunklom@lemmy.zip 2 points 10 hours ago

That's insensitive. Batman killed my parents.

Just so you know, Lemmy allows you to edit posts. You can fix the typo in your image too.

    [–] Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

By the time I noticed the typo in the image I had long since closed the tab where I put together the meme so I'd have to start over.

Kinda fun was that I posted this meme in a few places and it was only here in this thread where people pointed it out, it seems that a lot of people missed it lol

    [–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago

It honestly woulda been funnier to clumsily edit the meme in Paint than to sincerely fix it from source.

Why? Is there something wrong with it?

    [–] blurb@sh.itjust.works 1 points 12 hours ago

It's based on Ubuntu 22.04 (the Ubuntu release of April 2022) so it's really out of date.

For people already in the deep end. Its opinionated and does a lot of things for you to manage higher end consumer hardware (stuff you could manage yourself and learn how it works). For people who are a Windows native and are fleeing W11, it gets my recomendation as in Linux land it pretty close to "It just works".

My understanding is that it's fallen somewhat behind with the recent focus on cosmic desktop, and therefore should be avoided at least until they're done working on the desktop.

Flatpack updates fails often and you have to remove or reinstall some package from command line often. I dropped it because of this

Meme has a botched word too

    [–] raman_klogius@ani.social 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Just make sure the .iso size don't trigger the bug

    [–] AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

... could you make a Linux bootable USB drive on a smartphone? Maybe Termux?

No. That would need you to turn your device into a USB Mass Storage device, and android phones connect to pc via MTP. With a rooted phone, it's possible on paper, but you might as well use Linux From Scratch at that point.

Fitting that it's being offered by The Penguin himself.

Hmm, I may edit this gif for a meme post.

    [–] kibiz0r@midwest.social 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

β€œIs this trying time?” kinda works though

    [–] Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 days ago

FFS I didn't even notice the typo there lol

    [–] Killer57@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago

I tried pop, and honestly I had a few issues, bazzite.gg on the other hand, no issues so far

    [–] Norin@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

I like Pop!_OS. It was my first distro and has been the one I go back to the most.

The window management options were a godsend when working on my dissertation.

It appears I’ve been poisoned by my constituents

    [–] Lulzagna@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

No thanks. You can't even manage to make a meme properly
