and maybe now Space Station 14 - nah that game is definitely still fun, a multiplayer experience like no others (well, like 13 I guess)
!gaming is a community for gaming noobs through gaming aficionados. Unlike !games, we don’t take ourselves quite as serious. Shitposts and memes are welcome.
1. Keep it civil.
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only.
2. No sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia or any other flavor of bigotry.
I should not need to explain this one.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Try not to repost anything posted within the past month.
Beyond that, go for it. Not everyone is on every site all the time.

the blue game is amphetamine abuse
Aka Rocket League.
Oh, shit, that reminds me, I have to finish my dailies.
Every fucking game i play:
Star citizen (so much to unpack here fuck)
Tarkov (seriously it's only the second game on here, please put me out of my misery)
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise. (Get out of here stalker)
No man's sky
Factorio
Stardew valley
Rust
And last but certainly not least: project zombiod (this ones new to me, dammit how do I stop tripping, this is my fifth bleed in the last 15 minutes. )
Man I'm still not sure if I like it
Inara up, playing the stock market freighting shit around and mining stuff. Hundreds of hours though so there's that
Kerbal Space Program
Civilization
Factorio
The factory must grow
Just... One... More... Turn...
I would disagree about KSP, at least for the first hundred hours or so probably. You're actively learning and adventuring, and discovering new things. After that, once you're figuring out how far you can push things or installing RP-1, you're right.
I once spent 40 hours testing a Duna lander
I had a thing for system-dominating single-launch ships.
These would have 10-12 probes on it, hanging from beams like bats. I would have massive stageable fuel tanks, and I would slingshot it past each planet and it's moons, drop a probe and try to get the probe into orbit or on the surface (often failing due to lack of ∆V), all in one launch, with the ships core functioning as a science outpost to collect science and relay or bring it back to Kerbin.
I never quite dialled it in and touched or orbited every body with a probe, but some of these missions would last like 30-40 realtime hours, and I flew dozens of them.
I’ve been in the design and planning stage for a Jool 5 mission for months now.
I don’t even need the science. I just have to do it.
Minecraft back in 2012/2013
Rimworld, but I am having fun, I'm absolutely sure of it. The best fun of my life. Which is fucking concerning.
I feed the bodies of dead raiders to my pigs and GITMO-ed a Space Racist into giving up his bigoted ways.
I'm not sure how I feel about calling the experience "fun".
For a long time I'm running goodie-two-shoes settlements and I love it. They're not woe of non-violence people, they will shoot you if you come with raid, but then they will patch you up and release you back with gifts. They make artisinal food, drinks, and drugs and then sell and gift them to everyone, and they never ever commit any warcrimes. It makes me feel nice inside, knowing that my guys are making life on a rim slightly better.
Terra Invicta
But did you get the free Anaconda from Hutton Orbital?
All I got was the coffee mug.
I flew all the way out there and forgot to check the landing pad size. It was such a bust.
Ouch, lol.
You got the Anaconda? Must have been before they switched to the Federal Corvette
No Man's Sky
Was about to say this. I can't tell you what exactly I like about the game, but I keep feeling compelled to play it
Cities Skylines for me. I don't play it often because I will get sucked in and come to at 3am, realizing that I've not eaten in 16 hours and my traffic isn't any better.
Path of Exile after you hit a five digit playtime
Me killing time with Game Dev Tycoon at work.
It's such a simple spreadsheet simulator. You can't even see what your games look like but I haven't been able to put it down for the last few days. I already played, beat, and got bored of it years ago. But it makes the last hour at my job feel like 15 minutes, so I went back to it.
Thats Europa Universalis 4 for me.
I hate how I didn't even see the post title and immediately thought of Elite
Me too. I bet some younger folks might have thought of Elite Dangerous though
RN It's Starwdew Valley. I keep staying up all night being like "Just... One more day and I'm done." 🤣
Every time I look up something I can't figure out, I am presented with a bunch of tangenital items that I haven't even seen yet and I've been grinding the game for two weeks now. And CA just announced it was getting more! This unassuming retro farming game is fucking massive. 😵💫
And that's without mods!
I haven't played E:D since before Odyssey released. I lost interest when they stopped supporting VR for the new content.
I did get a Fleet Carrier though. I wonder if it's still there or if I ran out of upkeep money.
Good game, shame it's a live service though. It will probably just die if/when they turn off the servers.
My first experience with this phenomena was rollercoaster tycoon
FFXIV
I'm a huge FF fan, and 14 has a lot of praise so I had a go. I enjoyed FFXI somewhat so I thought maybe 14 would be enjoyable, but no matter how long I stuck around I just couldn't figure out if it was fun. I spent a lot of time making number go up, but when I stepped away from the computer I felt like I hadn't achieved anything.
I played through the base game. The first expansion. Began the second expansion. I reflected on my experience and I couldn't even tell you what the game was about. It's just walk here, click an NPC, walk there click an NPC, fight battle, repeat. And the battles are so boring; the expectation is that you learn the ideal rotation of attacks and abilities and you just apply that to 99% of battles and make sure to do them efficiently - if you can't do that you are labelled a noob.
Maybe the difference between 11 and 14 was that I did 11 with a friend, so it felt like I was spending time with him, whereas I did 14 by myself.
Much as I love XIV’s story, I really needed to break up story progression with other content, just for variety. I leveled up all crafters, did many daily raids, etc.
I tended to go do some Golden Saucer stuff because I just wasn't that interested in the crafting levels. I never really need anything crafted; playing solo the gear you get in msq is more than enough.
I've been playing Elden Ring for the first time (also my first fromsoft game). Yeah....
