It's painfully obvious search has been enshitified for years now.

But people Still. Fucking. Use. It.

Use fucking kagi, bing, yahoo, whatever.

When users leave, companies either figure out wtf happened or they die.

I swear it's fucking absurd to watch, like the fat twats on Wall-E.

I tried Kagi for a few months. I cancelled after trying to search for some scientific topics and getting nothing but right wing bullshit. As much as Google sucks, it's unfortunately still better than the alternatives.

I fucking hate that I'm saying this but Bing has been better than Google since a little bit after it came out. I tried it and noticed a huge difference between the two. All Bing has to do right now to succeed is use googles old search engine style and it will take over. I used to be able to find what I was looking for. Now I only see ads and Ai for search results. (no I don't mean ads as in raw ads, I mean like the websites are just bait ad sites)

I dunno, I still seem to get better search results from Google vs. Bing. I've been testing various distros on a handful of random SBCs this past week and the preset DDG search (which is just Bing wearing a duck suit) set in the browsers just yielded shit results for me.

I miss when servers served content instead of bloated JavaScript apps

[–] SendMePhotos@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I disabled Javascript I hate it and only enable it if it breaks websites.

That's basically every single website.

Use fucking kagi, bing, yahoo, whatever.

I've tried. They're not any-fucking-better.

I would pay to use Kagi if it was even minutely better than Google.

Everything sucks.

If "everything sucks", then you may as well use something (anything) else. I haven't used Google search in nearly 5 years and I haven't missed it (and i need to look lots of stuff up daily).

Duckduckgo and Duck AI are serving me very well (and these aren't the only options).

[–] ghen@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

I use duck duck go for about 90% , if the results don't seem normal I'll go back to Google on a stray search.

The US Legal System broke when they allowed 3 Supreme Court candidates to lie under oath to get a lifetime job. And they interpret the law as they see fit.

I'm conflicted about this ruling. On one hand, this is some major fucking bullshit. On the other hand, if you can't beat them... so I do own a reasonable bunch of GOOG stock and it shot up like 15% today.
