A natural reaction to their anti-world actions. Non-idiots could foresee this.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 43 points 6 days ago

So you're telling me that if we make the world hate us, they might send us less money?

[–] PugJesus@piefed.social 85 points 6 days ago (2 children)

"Wow, I can't believe we backed a fascist shitwit and now people hate us????"

Corporations never learn. Literally. They're incapable of learning.

Wow its like US culture was only held up by goodwill from USAID, NIH, and weapons donations to ukraine and it turns out people think the US is otherwise a bunch of billionaire sex perverts and their wage slaves when you dismantle those things.

This is why that German waffle chain, Luftwaffles went broke in the 1940s.

[–] McDropout@lemmy.world 19 points 6 days ago (4 children)

To be honest a lot of German brands collaborated or directly worked with the Nazis are still in business today like most german car manufacturers for example. Dr. Oetker comes to mind also.

VW was literally founded on Hitler's orders.

The American't boycotting will continue until they have their own little-engine-that-could revolution, kick the fascism to the curb, and adjust the perception of their own importance and contributions to the world.

It might even last a little longer than all that. The message must be understood.

I will personally never set foot in that cursed country again in my life.

Major US brands are a good chunk of the reason behind rising anti-American sentiment.

[–] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 6 days ago

AIPAC is the biggest right now. We need to ban and deport the Israeli lobby.

[–] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 51 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Good, fuck the child rapist trump and his fascist regime.

[–] Zetta@mander.xyz 31 points 6 days ago

Good, fuck America in general. The world absolutely needs less reliance on central powers like America and China and hopefully everybody can work on improving.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago

Shit, I'm American and even I'm anti-American.

I'm a human before I'm an American and America isn't acting very humane.

Act like trash, get treated like trash.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 39 points 6 days ago

All the gigantic tech corpos I have to deal with are American. I was having anti american sentiments before the orange dictator, but they sure are at an all time high.

[–] phoenixarise@lemmy.world 31 points 6 days ago

lol didn’t McDonald’s host their own orange clown when he was campaigning? They and their nasty dried burgers can fuck off.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 39 points 6 days ago

If they only hadn't thrown money at Trumps campaign. And what are they doing now? Kissing his ass and throwing money at him to get on his good side. Totally ignoring that he has none.

[–] UncleGrandPa@lemmy.world 46 points 6 days ago (3 children)

The test of the word should basically boycott the US entirely. Buy nothing... Sell nothing. Do not visit the USA. I appears to be what the administration wants anyway

How can this be. Being Nazi scum has blowback?

[–] fritobugger2017@lemmy.world 23 points 6 days ago

I have been living and working in Asia for over 20 years. The anti-American sentiment is the highest now compared to any other time in the last 20 years.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 28 points 6 days ago (12 children)

I'm high and I'm craving Doritos. But I can't have Doritos because they're American (yeah, yeah, technically I can but I won't). Fuck Trump for taking away my Doriotos. At least I have Lays

[–] viking@infosec.pub 17 points 6 days ago

Lays are American as well, sorry to burst your bubble.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 14 points 6 days ago

But both of those are Frito-Lay (and Pepsi is their parent)

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 15 points 6 days ago

Just buy some local corn chips and sprinkle cheese powder and msg on em.

[–] FosterMolasses@leminal.space 3 points 4 days ago

Do you guys not have generics for Doritos? Almost every store in the UK seems to have a comparable store brand, with creative non-copyright names for the nacho dust lol

Well, electing a strongman politician while abolishing goodwill programs that project soft power tends to have consequences for your economy. Mostly negative consequences, but hey, at least you get to wear a red ballcap that says your country is the bestest ever and all other countries suck mud, right?

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 35 points 6 days ago (5 children)

Fun fact: there are Canadian companies/products named after American cities: New York Fries, Boston Pizza, Philadelphia cream cheese. These companies must be kicking themselves now

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 20 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Time for a rebrand: North York Fries, Brampton Pizza. Someone help me with Philly

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 14 points 6 days ago

I think they should rename it Montréal Fries

Is there an up to date list of brands and companies that supported trump/maga?

I tried using publicsquare just now to search again but it seems like they took away the ability to do so, probably to stop people from boycotting fascism. And other searches don’t really bring up such lists (mostly just articles talking about the most prominent companies that are well known to have bent the knee).

I join all others in expressing utter shock, amazement, disbelief and outrage that it took the morons until now to realise what 90% of the Earths population predicted came to be.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 24 points 6 days ago (1 children)

"Anti-American business upset to find out that after becoming (buying) the face of America people still don't fuckin like them."

You can't convince me that AI isn't writing these dogshit headlines anymore. These are so formulaic predictable and middle of the road normalization that it makes me physically react.

MAYBE if some of the brands is being pro-nazi, supporting trump. duh

Easy solution: Don't be a dick to regular humans and human rights and the Anti-American Sentiment will fade.
You were always the front-runner for democracy and peace, but making a 180 since january all of a sudden is, yeah, not chillaxt at all... Youknow?

[–] Tja@programming.dev 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

since january

So the American voters aren't the only ones who forgot 2016-2020...

A number of companies have noted this trend. David Gibbs, CEO of KFC and Taco Bell parent Yum Brands, told analysts in late April that the company was closely monitoring the issue and its impact on consumer behavior, but added that there had not been an observable impact on its sales.

I'm surprised its mild enough for them to claim this so far.

I know the Canadians are pissed, but are all y'all's peers on other continents mostly... indifferent? I guess it's egotistical to assume people generally follow American news, but some of it really seems hard to ignore.
