Stick Enthusiasts

A place for enthusiasts of sticks of all shapes and sizes. We all love a good stick! Is it a walking stick? Light Saber? Gun? Looks brown and sticky? You decide!

Feel free to post sticks to rate, sticks that look like things, memes about sticks, long winded rants about the superiority of birch sticks over oak, anything stick related! Natural sticks are preferred, but modification and ornamentation is also fine.

It's a cylinder.

[–] FuckFascism@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

No it's not, that's a dildo.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 19 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

I disagree. I would classify this as more of a branch than a stick.

[–] spazzman6156@sh.itjust.works 6 points 10 hours ago

Nope. Twig.

[–] pebbles@sh.itjust.works 6 points 18 hours ago

Yeah unless the sides are cleaned up this is a branch.

This is a twig. Are twigs sticks? 🤔

Apparently not. Twigs are still attached to the tree and are also flexible. Sticks are detached and dry, so they are not flexible.

That means if a branch or twig falls off the tree, it isn't immediately a stick! It has to dry out a bit, and then it's a stick! God damn. We really have words to differentiate anything and everything. 😮

[–] juja@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

Actually, by virtue of it not being attached to the tree anymore after it has fallen, it no longer is a twig even if it hasn’t fully dried up yet. So until it has fully dried, it’s in a state where it’s both twig and stick. A twick if you will.

[–] Lembot_0004@discuss.online 73 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

That is a branch, you illiterate barbarian!

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 39 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Plus, if it fell off the tree it would be a twig at best.

[–] pdxfed@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Did you just attack its girth and imply it's too skinny? 😡

[–] Habahnow@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

A twig? Are you daft man? It's obviously a stick! LOOK at it!

[–] gibmiser@lemmy.world 48 points 1 day ago

Twig. NEXT!

[–] DasFaultier@sh.itjust.works 39 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Came here to say just that, yes.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 13 points 1 day ago

More of a twig, really.

[–] actionjbone@sh.itjust.works 29 points 1 day ago

Excuse me, but it is TOTALLY WRONG to put a comma after the word "prove."

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 7 points 21 hours ago

It's a limb, it has multiple branches.

If contains many sticks.

[–] badbytes@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

Um.. Actually everyone's wrong, it's a Tree.

[–] pseudo@jlai.lu 5 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

[–] Steve@startrek.website 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

[–] nexguy@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago

I wouldn't it's a stick. It is sticky however. And brown.

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 17 points 1 day ago

I'm sorry, but that is actually a $150 table centerpiece from Pier 1 Imports. It adds a touch of natural feeling to your home decor.

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 3 points 19 hours ago

How antagonizing.

[–] 6nk06@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Too thin to be called a stick, it's a fucking stupid branch. DOWNVOTED!

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 4 points 1 day ago

It's a branch because it's not a single strand.

[–] quinkin@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

Looks more like a sapling than a stick.

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Well now, to the untrained eye it might appear to be an ordinary stick, but there are several factors one must consider.

[–] socsa@piefed.social 8 points 1 day ago

I'm not going to argue with you.

[–] DrSleepless@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Clearly a marshmallow roasting tool
