Wrap it in a corn batter and deep fry that sucker, and youve got a delicious pickled corndog.

Eh, worth a try once. They had them at the Stampede one year.

[–] Aralakh@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 days ago

Yes, that's what that word means!

-A midwesterner

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 5 days ago

This unironically looks amazing.

Probably not what you'd want as a regular staple of one's diet, but damn I gotta either find or make me one o these.

[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 days ago

Damn that looks good

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 2 points 4 days ago

That is the best thing I've seen all week. Want.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks like street food from Poland?

the midwest has to be stopped at all costs

c/lostfedditors

You're looking for c/foodporn. Easy mistake.😁

...I mean...

Edit: depends if that white stuff is some sort of cream cheese or not.

[–] latenightnoir@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Then it's a "no" from me. Acid meat, nothx.

Who the f puts cream cheese on a hot dog? You said it as if it were the choice of a normal.

Edit: Apologies for not realizing what c/ I was responding to. This was just unnecessarily aggressive of me.

haha, gross af

username checks out!

Okay, this is an abomination, but I get how it might cut the acids somewhat and actually work out. Caramelized onions are awesome.

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

I’ve never had it, I just learned about it from a stand up comic short. I love caramelized onions and I think they pair well with cream cheese, but that combo along side relish and mustard… I can’t imagine how that works.

[–] latenightnoir@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Oh, nonono, not on a proper hot dog! Ketchup and mustard, always, I meant in this particular scenario - if that white stuff is mayo, then the contraption's too acidic. Cream cheese would offer a bit of base.

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 4 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Pfft. Ketchup? What are you, five?

[–] latenightnoir@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Heeey, what's wrong with ketchup?🥺

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Nothing… if you’re five.

And if I'm not?

[–] Bonus@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Is there really a place where ketchup is out? I usually put most the things on when there's a topping station but I've never seen cream cheese offered. (Guess I'm overdue for a Seattle visit)

There is something especially funny about the Chicago chef in the article going on and on about the "natural taste" of a hotdog.

[–] Bonus@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

I love the smell of intestines in the morning

[–] Bonus@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

A proper Chicago hotdog has tomatoes, pickles, peppers, relish, onions and mustard. It does not have ketchup

Tomatoes?! Sweet, fancy Moses! Okay, I get it, ketchup (supposedly made from tomatoes) would be a redundancy.

[–] Bonus@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

A proper hot dog where I'm sitting could include bacon wrapping, minced bermuda onions, mayo, mustard, ketchup on a folded piece of bread. There are additional side options, of course.

Edit: I misread that. You're clearly saying ketchup and mustard always.

[–] latenightnoir@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I initially interpreted the lot as a "would," not a "could," and I thought it sounds good, but very heavy:))

I agree with the lot, but... not all at once:))) And, yeah, ketchup and mustard are my main go-tos. Ketchup and mayo when things are... eggy, I guess.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 1 points 4 days ago

To each their own, but I'm with the other guy on the ketchup thing.

Unless they've got Tabasco sauce. Drown the ketchup in Tabasco, and it's good on fries.

But never on a hot dog.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Cream cheese on a hot dog is delicious.

From your friendly neighborhood Seattlite.

[–] Bonus@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Testify!

Okay, will have to check it out if I can ever get up there some time.

I mostly laugh about these posts, but this one made my stomach revolt a little from just looking at it.

WHY?

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

More for me then

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

What? You asked for extra pickles.
