I really don't think this will become a thing but holy shit if it did that would be the most cyberpunk dystopian thing that has ever actually happened.

I can't imagine any possible negative side effects from hijacking your sleep cycle to work.

[-] Jonathan12345@lemmygrad.ml 22 points 11 months ago

I wish I could lucid dream. Then I could shoot up nazis in my sleep.

[-] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 11 months ago

Well there's always the next best thingShooting them up in Minecraft

[-] sooper_dooper_roofer@hexbear.net 6 points 11 months ago

if you do this in roblox, it might be better to do targeted jobs of 1-2 villagers each so that the runescape mods don't imprison you, it intuitively makes sense that the mods are strapped for resources and are more likely to let a 1-2 villager job slide under their radar but not a mass deletion

though don't take my word for it bc I'v enever played starcraft!

Yeah but the graphics just aren't as immersive.

I wrote a paper during a lucid dream once by speaking with myself.

It can be done, but is it funner than flying? Probably not.

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 11 months ago

It won't be about fun, but 20 hour workdays.

[-] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 11 points 11 months ago

I get that, just saying I'd rather spend my lucid dreams flying.

They're five months early for April fools.

it is a tech startup there is a high chance their claims are hype based bullshit

the average manager of a tech startup is a little boy who insists his dad is a power ranger

Startup announces the 24hour workday

[-] FanonFan@hexbear.net 16 points 11 months ago

Not gonna read the article right now but this sounds like VC hype shit preying on bourgeois anxieties about undisciplined labor.

[-] RedWizard@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 11 months ago

Fucking stem lords.

[-] qwename@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 11 months ago

There's a scifi TV series called Severance where memories at work and memories of personal life can be severed, I won't spoil the story but this news of writing code in their sleep sounds just like that.

[-] TheBroodian@hexbear.net 14 points 11 months ago

Oh boy man made horrors beyond my wildest dreams

I already write code in my sleep and it sucks. Pushing this code to production would be heretical.

[-] ergifruit@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 11 months ago

i tried lucid dreaming before, and it always evolved into the equivalent of what would happen if you snuck up on a person tripping on DMT and told them that demons were coming for them. i don't think this'll work as great as they think...

[-] supersolid_snake@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I don't want to know what type of heinous garbage silicon valley tech bros would produce via dreams. The shit they say when conscious is already pretentious and awful.

Also it's BS to inflate company values. The entire system is a scam.

[-] HiddenLayer5@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 11 months ago

Futurama only predicted we would see ads in our dreams. They were so wrong.

[-] usernamesaredifficul@hexbear.net 6 points 11 months ago

silly worker thinking you own your sleeping mind

[-] Sailing7@lemmy.ml 2 points 11 months ago

Bullshit article.

Yeah i can also imagine code myself while awake.

Doesnt make it worth it though.

Imagining code brings you nothing.

You have no IDE in your head that checks your code.

You have no space to upload your code towards.

You can only try to remember what weird concept for a code you had in mind and use that, when you actually type down your code.

The article is just trying to generate some clicks with ragebait. Nothingburger news. Not even worth the click.
