Gibson has completely changed lol

Behold the lap cat lol

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

poor sweetie

she looks sad and a big sook

Sheโ€™s sooking way less and just demanding to sit on my lap. Also a lot more chatty. Like 1000% more chatty lol

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 9 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Ok the waterworks have started. I feel like the worst damn cat slave lol. I know I'm not, it's not like I sent him to a gulag - it's a dang palace!

I'm also the usual anxious about travelling, and when I'm anxious I tend to cuddle the cat. So this feels quite hard.

I think I'll feel better when I'm away and gone, where I'm not around all his cat things ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’€

I totally get it hey. Especially when youโ€™re at home and they arenโ€™t there.

Heโ€™s safe and happy, and youโ€™ll probs feel a lot better once youโ€™ve left the house โค๏ธ

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If it gets too bad you can always cut things short and take him back home ๐Ÿ˜ญ

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago

Don't worry, I will definitely cut my trip short if I'm having a bad time, or if Mickey is unwell lol

I just love him so so much

Hugs ๐Ÿซ‚ ๐Ÿค—

Empty houses are hard. You'll feel better once your holiday is in progress.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago

Mickey is very safe. Just keep telling yourself that.

[โ€“] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 9 points 1 day ago (6 children)

Well I had a fairly sedentary day today at home with the kids. Cleared some things out of the fridge and freezer. I tried a beginner flow yoga style routine but it didn't really work for me because I've lost a lot of flexibility over the years without realising. Even sitting cross legged on the floor is hard because I'm so stiff in the knees ๐Ÿ˜ซ so I did the 1000 step challenge again because my step count is way down and the routine is fun and not hard in the wrong way lol.

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Thereโ€™s chair yoga if that would be easier

This is one Iโ€™ve tried before and was quite gentle on the body https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1DYH5ud3zHo

[โ€“] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Ooh thanks Melba I hadn't thought of chair yoga! Might give that one a go later on today ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Yeah! Itโ€™s good because it keeps the pressure off your knees.

Also consider tai chi or qi gong warmups with a high stance

[โ€“] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 2 points 21 hours ago

Ok I've just done this routine and I'm hooked! It feels so beautiful to let the body flow like that!

[โ€“] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 2 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Ok so I just decided, "bugger it, I'll do the chair yoga one now while the kids are still in bed," and I found it really good and not too stressful. Very hard to put ankle on knee and stretch the leg because stiffness, but I'll get there. Thanks for the recommendation!

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 21 hours ago

No worries. Donโ€™t force anything!

Took a train trip to Thomastown and the station's resident crackhead was very helpful when we were trying to c change the boy's nappy. She felt like quirky sort of NPC in the starting world of a game that teaches you all the mechanics.

I hope your phone finishes charging, Thomastown station crackhead lady.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

thank you for humanising crackhead lady

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

She was going about her day and she was nice to us. People have things going on in their lives others will never understand but we can still be kind to each other

Gibson is a little more chatty after her surgery. Her spay wasnโ€™t done properly the first time so she had to have another surgery.

She kinda squeaks and chirps lol

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's so cute that she's chatting!!

beach โ˜ ๏ธ

so I was down the beach and saw a strange interesting looking box thing bobbing in the water just off the sand

I grabbed a stick to pull it in to check it out, it was heavy, took a step in the water to have a look, I have good waterproof boots, read the label

cremation remains!!!!

I didn't touch, left it there in the water, I scooted outta there

it will wash up overnight , I'll let the early morning walkers deal with it

took a pic of the beach

[โ€“] TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yeah, when we (fam) were doing the burial at sea thing for my Dad (cos ex-sailor), we were told to put the container under water, open the lid and swish gently until the container was empty. Then dispose of the container thoughtfully. Same for my Mum at the same beach. We were SPECIFICALLY warned not to attempt to open the container in the air and then dump cos of the air cushion effects just above the water - the ones that keep albatrosses flying for months at a time. And not to just heave the container into the ocean unopened because it would eventually be washed ashore just like the one you found as there's quite a lot of air in the standard container as well as the remains. My guess is someone wasn't listening or didn't read the instructions given by the crematorium.

Oh wow, I would've freaked out a bit too. Someone doing a sea burial and didn't put the box out far enough, or not realising that you can open the box and hopefully not do a Big Lebowski with the ashes as you cast them to the wind over the sea? I'm picturing a group of people having an emotional and heartfelt goodbye at the end of the pier, and ceremonially and reverently tossing the box into the water.. only to have it slowly bob it's way back onto the beach! I guess that's life (and death) for ya.

Iโ€™m doing surprisingly ok given the amount of alcohol I had last night coupled with lack of sleep. Also productive day despite the late start. But I have dinner with some other friends tonight and theyโ€™ll all be drinking and thereโ€™s no way Iโ€™ll be able to stomach round 2. Water for me.

I've started Silksong and while I suck at it, it's good fun!!

Last wander around Brunswick to get some things before tomorrow. Got some 3/4 pants, a handbag, and a toiletry bag from Savers. Partner got new jeans and trakkies, and a pair of sneakers.

I also had to buy the Essendon membership scarf. I dont have any Bombers merch, despite them being my team, so I thought it would be pretty funny if people thought I was a member. Also we have a Freo scarf my partner owns, so it's only fair ๐Ÿ˜‚

Already missing Mickey, but I know he'll have a good time. The other cats there were all very happy and really liked seeing the cattery owner, so I think he'll warm up to the place very quickly. The cat opposite him is called Fat Charlie, he's on a diet, and he was the fattest damn cat I've seen in real life ๐Ÿ˜‚

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago

Ted spent most of his early life in catteries and he is very social, adaptable and very chill. I think catteries are good for cats.

Mickey will be fine. ๐Ÿ˜บ

Have a great time๐Ÿ˜ฝ๐Ÿ˜ฝ๐Ÿ˜ฝ

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (5 children)

Mickey has been safely taken to his cattery hotel. He hissed for the first time ever, because he doesn't like the other cats, but he was still sweet to me. I haven't cried or anything, I know he's gonna settle in when he realises the other cats can't get to him.

Now I just have to sort out the rest of my stuff for tomorrow morning's flight ๐Ÿ’€

Breakfast cost me $17 + $15 petrol money this morning. 2 hash browns, 2 McMuffins and a drink. Would it have been cheaper to order thru Ubereats? Did the pint sized Offspring rip me off?

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 8 points 1 day ago (5 children)

What on earth is the problem some men have with reading the fucking instructions?!?!

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 8 points 1 day ago

Hehe.. guilty.

Not asking for directions either lol.

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago

I got a touch frustrated this week by the replacement I'm training because I would give her all of the instructions in an email and she would only read half and then be like ??? Reeeeeead, then ask questions.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

it's people, people don't read instructions

๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

lazy, impatient , can't understand them

I've spent the afternoon doing lots of sorting of groceries and the fridge. I had some bits of capsicum left, so I did a refrigerator pickle with those and a few of the fresh mushrooms. I've also sliced up leftover pumpkin and sweet potato and roasted them for the freezer. I've made a start on packing up the meat and will finish the rest tomorrow.

The liver is cooking with lots of bacon & onion (making lots of yummy gravy) and I'll just need to do some mashed potato to go with it. I didn't use all the liver, so there's a package of that back in the fridge to figure out what to do with too. The pieces you got were a lot smaller when I was a kid, and I remember it being something you could only get sometimes. The butcher and supermarket would only get a limited amount on one day of the week, there was not a constant supply. And because they didn't have the vacuum packaging it didn't last that long either so you had to be a lot more careful to make sure it was fresh.
