Sleeping forever because it's so comfortable.

So you need 2 pickups to achieve what 1 van does better?

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago

It's not gay unless the tow balls touch.

I'll bring the kerosene heater.

[–] robolemmy@lemmy.world 28 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Am I the only one who prefers their kerosene cold?

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I like my kerosene how I like my women.

Redhead with freckles ? Doesn't make sense

Fiery and hot? Clear and low-viscosity?

[–] Homesnatch@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Always stored in a metal container.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 3 points 1 week ago

I think you need a lot more that way.

for warmth

And the sweet, peaceful embrace of death by CO poisoning

I'll make sure not to comment on any jokes anymore, anthropomorphic deer with a pink hat

Camped by a fjord in Norway with some friends once on an impromptu road trip. 29€ tent and a shitbox car that was about the same age as us. A storm rolled in. We had a great night drinking beer and laughing our asses off watching idiots like this trying to keep their contraptions from taking flight.

If you somehow don't notice the god awful smell and all, you will die if you run the trucks for warmth, the monoxide in the exhaust will make you fall unconscious and die.

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 61 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I reckon that might be the joke, yes

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I don't care, whenever you think there isn't somebody dumb enough you're wrong.

This does kinda smack of "RedneckEngineering" - a group often disparaged as being stupid AF, but who often come up with ingenious solutions to problems using what they have on the spot. Maybe they threw a pipe on the exhaust to extend it outside, or similar.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

And of course fail because getting a seal on those ad hoc solutions that would stand up long term to the heat if the exhaust is tricky.

Redneck engineering can look quite clever, but often has a much higher chance of causing a news story that begins with "tragedy struck when..."

If it's innocuous like an ad hoc fix to a gate, ok. unfortunately they often involve "fixing" annoying safety things to be more convenient by ripping out a flame arrestor or cutting a vent in something that is supposed to trap vapors or zip tying some safety interlock.

It helps the gene pool?

[–] MNByChoice@midwest.social 6 points 1 week ago

Yes, and vehicles can emit carbon monoxide for hours after the engine is stopped.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Aside from the joke, I don’t get the appeal of these car tents. They wouldn’t keep the bugs out nor give you a dry clean floor to step on, and I don’t see how sleeping on a steel bed is any more comforting sleeping on the ground

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They are pillow forts for adult men.

[–] Kimjongtooill@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 days ago

I didn't want one until you put it this way

… forever?

[–] TheEEEdiot@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

For better results and more head room, they could hang the tarp from the nearby power lines too.
