Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

"I do think that again, we are in the midst of a massive shift in dynamics in the media ecosystem for lots of reasons, again, including the permission structure that President Trump's election has provided," the FCC chief said.

The fascists with the real power have abandoned their masks. The fascists with ambitions for power still wear them. For now.

The suspense is terrible. I hope it'll last. (RIP Gene Wilder)

I always had the impression that there was an underlying censorship issue over in the US (what with everyone there hearing nothing good about Palestinians for the past half century) but to have it be so open and discussed in such a euphemistic and yet banal way, wow. I wonder how these quotes we are seeing on our screens will be remembered.

“Permission structure” on its own is incredible.

Remember the movie the dark knight rises? When bane takes over the city and people take over and throw out the rich and put them on trial? Yea we need something like that now.

I've been predicting since Trump got elected that we'll see streaming services purge their LGBT content

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 17 points 1 day ago

It's gonna be a lot more than streaming services purged.

What would constitute that content? Any show/movie with even one such character and/or plot line? Because that would be nearly all of them, at least more recent content?

Is it going to be nothing but bullshit Hallmark schlocky xmas movies? I'm bracing myself for a whole stream of shitty "wholesome" content being cranked out by Hollywood. 🤮

We're not done yet ruining the country for every normal American. We want every reasonable person in this country to be absolutely miserable because Taco is not only such a terrible human being, but also such a tender snowflake that cannot have normal Americans pointing out that he is hated by most of the country.

Fascists aren't done until someone forcefully removes them from power.

Watching Chuck Schumer fight harder to protect Jimmy Kimmel than Hind Rajab.

Liberal politics in a nutshell.

How long before American media becomes like North American media? Just propaganda 24/7.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago

I find it funny that this always gets posted when people make comparisons to North Korea, which is pretty much always chosen because it's like the poster child for shit human rights. Do you want them to pick the Congo instead or something?
