Is the living food storage part from like those honey or sap ants, where they have guys with those giant sacs of honey or sap to feed to whoever wants it?

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 27 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Well that's pretty cool if that's it, my brain went straight to cannibalism

[–] AbsolutelyClawless@piefed.social 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's called "social stomach".

[–] shroomato@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago (1 children)

i chewed this for the village who wants some

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I'm living food storage to myself.

[–] fascicle@leminal.space 6 points 4 days ago

You feed yourself off your large sac?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 days ago

Sounds like a trait from Rimworld

[–] stray@pawb.social 27 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I'm a little too good at acting as living food storage.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 days ago

I think living food storage might be a requirement for multicellular life on earth. Who is acting? What am I James Lipton?

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 27 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Too much activity prevents thinking

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 13 points 4 days ago

Maybe that’s what they want.

It's sinister that all of life's necessities are locked behind paywalls.

[–] leftzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 4 days ago

Monstrous is what it is.

The very concept of earning one's living, as if we didn't deserve to be alive without sacrificing said life for the privilege.

There is one kind of prison where the man is behind bars, and everything that he desires is outside; and there is another kind where the things are behind the bars, and the man is outside.

How to Serve ~~Man~~ Ants

[–] wander1236@sh.itjust.works 12 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I thought that said "anti biologist" at first

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)

We're called chemists, and it's more of a friendly rivalry

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago

Which makes biochemistry what you get when you combine something with its anti particle, organized chaos.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 4 days ago

AKA "intelligent design"

Very interesting! Thank you for sharing

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Yeah, it's something that's super useful about humans.

They're very durable, and can follow instructions effectively.

They make excellent slaves, compared to other forms of life.

For me, that's the resource aliens would invade us for.

It's us.

[–] Quexotic@infosec.pub 8 points 4 days ago

"it helps you deal with emergencies"

Exactly why we are kept busy.

[–] abfarid@startrek.website 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Shouldn't it be "lie around"?

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 days ago

But what about adipose tissue?

So you're saying we have an evolutionary example of "eat the rich"? I say we get started - the ants gave us a blueprint.

[–] bluebadoo@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

The title is a gem. Decard Cain, you beautiful bastard.

[–] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (2 children)

If we are supposed to lie around then why is it bad for our health

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 14 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Because we're also meant to move around.

We're not meant to do either all the time.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 4 days ago

Not moving at all: Muscle atrophy.

Moving too much: RSI.

[–] psud@aussie.zone 1 points 3 days ago

It seems relaxing punctuated by sprinting is good for you
