I've been poking around and trying to avoid spoilers to check. This is before the celebration I see everyone mention. I told Lae'zel no because I wanted to do it later. It seems like the option is gone now. Does it ever come back? Is there any console command or mod to fix it?

I'm on the 3rd act and I swear every character just throws themselves at me. I've turned them down multiple times but at certain stages in their questline they forget and try again. There's ALOT of game left, build up your reputation with her and try again.

Personally I hate Lae'zel as a character. In EA you could kill her before meeting her but I was unable to do that on release. She's still LVL 1 in my camp and ignore her for the most part.

I’m still on the first Act and I think even from my first time in camp it was glaringly obvious that everyone was flirting with my character or I could see how it would lead in to romance options, except for Gale… he’s a bit of a tease who doesn’t present his ass like a mandrill, like the rest of the sluts in camp. Or I just picked the wrong dialogue options.

You picked the wrong dialogue because he is always throwing himself at me and whe. I rebuff him he makes me feel the worst with his replies. I'm fucking caring about what an NPC has to say to me when I turn him down, especially after his quest progresses at the end of act 2.

Lol The only one I was blindsided by was Lae'zel. She's generally a huge asshole until she says she wants to touch butts out of seemingly nowhere. But then she went back to being an asshole lol. She and Shadowheart are still my favorite companions so far though for some reason, but maybe that's because they're both jerks and I made it my mission to make them like me lol

I think I'm in the middle of Act 3 and I've had every companion I met in Act 1 ask me out, except for Karlach. Yes, I helped her with the infernal engine upgrade. I'm just slightly confused, maybe I picked a wrong dialog option early on.

Ah, the "romance" as understood by modern videogame industry...

You know, there's already real life if I want to be ignored or ditched by women.

[-] jesterraiin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I lack the experience to properly answer it - been married for decades already.

Lae'zel jumped me one night in the first act and threatened me so i slit her throat... now i feel bad and her body is just lying in my camp forever

Probably so Withers can revive her? Dunno, started my second playthrough and made damn sure I avoided the place where they had her caged. Annoying midnight cutscenes averted.

[-] sciawp@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

I’ve tried everything and I’m not able to revive her :(

Yeah I'm about 6 hours in maybe and I've already had Shadowheart, Lae'zel and Astarion try and fuck me. And I've hardly done any of their quest shit or talked to them hardly at all. I feel like the romance system in this game needs to be reworked for sure. Like I want to have to work for that Astariussy you know what I'm saying?

I do fucking love the rest of the game so far though. Combat feels great, story is good so far though I haven't got very far in it. The boss fights I've had so far have been satisfying. I really like the characters aside from the romance thing, they all feel dynamic and flawed, and they actually feel like they have emotions to some extent (I'm actually kind of reminded of the romance options in Fallout 4 in that everything you do gains their approval or disapproval, though romance in that game is done a little better, though still not perfect.)

And even when you decide to start a romance with someone, it feels shallow, flat and all on your terms. "Hm, I think it's time to talk to X in camp and see if I can progress the relationship". No random interruptions while walking around for a lovetalk, and not even any doubts regarding the relationship (at least so far, I'm only in Act 2). They're all just into you because you're the main character.

Everyone is transparently designed to be an NPC put in the game for your (the player's) gratification. Everyone is horny and pansexual, so everybody can get with their favorite. Conversations happen when the player initiates them because we wouldn't want them to be inconvenienced.

Baldur's Gate 2 had drawn-out, slowly building relationships where you had to actually think about who you were talking to and pick options that are appropriate, which was not always obvious. You can't be nice to Viconia and expect her to fall for you, you gotta spar with her first and prove you are her match. Your love interest would randomly interrupt you while walking and start conversations, which made them feel alive. The relationships had ups and downs and didn't start with obvious flirting. This was 23 years ago.

And if you say I'm being unfair to Larian, it wasn't my decision to choose this branding. Of course I'm going to compare it to the previous installment.

I'm asking about if you say no to them the first time if they'll ever ask again.

[-] WildlyCanadian@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago

Oh yeah I understood what you were asking lol I just kinda forgot what the original post was about while reading through comments then had to go on a rant

Lae'zel asked me to fuck when I was playing last night, haven't really played enough since to answer for ya, sorry.

[-] JackbyDev@programming.dev 2 points 1 year ago

No worries, I totally understand, sorry if it came across like I was offended!

[-] Everblue@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Gale keeps trying to fuck me and I keep saying no. Getting serious DA2 anders vibes from him.

[-] PolarisFx@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

I was romancing shadowheart but Gale just found out about his fate and was feeling vulnerable and I caved and figured the guy needed a good fuck, then immediately after Shadowheart says "You're glowing, but I don't want to share you" and fuck all that work down the drain... had to load a save and let the guy down and he makes you feel like shit for doing so

[-] JackbyDev@programming.dev 2 points 1 year ago

Okay, that makes me feel better then lol.
