This is not true, while the US army is feigning for recruits they are not this desperate. There is a definite age cut off 39 for the Air Force and navy, 28 for the marine corp, and 31 for the army.

The only way to get this old in the military is to be already in it as an officer, NCO, or Warrant officer, and then simply stay, but even then you will be usually forced out at 60-65.

Not true. Anyone who serves gets a waiver for age. So say you serve for 5 years at 18 and then leave the military. Your maximum enlistment age is moved up by five years. So you would be able to rejoin up until you were 44. If you serve for 10 years then your max enlist age is moved up by ten years allowing you to reenlist at 49. Older if you get a waiver for age and if you have skills that the military wants. I had a guy in basic training who was 50. He had been a supply nco prior to getting out.

I agree, but that’s not “civilians part time”, that’s an ex-military personnel who’s rejoining, which is an extremely niche selection of people. I doubt that’s the target market for this fake advertisement.

You do realize that old soldiers become civilians? Part time is great for retired soldiers since they don't really need the money. Also old soldiers like to stay around other soldiers. So I think this is a good ad to get retiring soldiers to work on base. Easy to get clearances for them and they already know the drill.

Ah yes, part time bootcamp, with part time deployments, with part time duties.

60-65 year old people should be living their lives to the fullest and not scrounging around for pennies from Uncle Sam. Who else would do this if not for the money?

Also that ex-military rejoining scenario is like 14 people max. Great market to target with advertising. That’s why I said “civilian part time” is silly.

Also you have no idea what you’re talking about, and either you’re (most likely) making it up, but never in all my years in close contact with the military has barely anyone expressed how much they love the military and how they would want to spend more time around it. Only the deranged jingoistic psychos and the 40+ years of service officers felt that way. Even then most of them saw it as a paycheck. Many start off as gungo “I love the US and the military, but even just a few years in, that feeling changes radically.

Just my experience from seeing the people around me, smashing an Iraqi families door in, or striking a Somoli village with a tomahawk cruise missile reallllllllllly eats away at you.

This ad is to recruit people into jobs like CIF or the guys who help new recruits get their clothing fitted. And yes retirees are heavily recruited for those jobs because people who have spent 20 years around soldiers sometimes like to remain around soldiers. I was in the army and served in combat. I knew a lot of guys who went from the military to go work at clothing and sales or the PX or as a range officer or any number of other on post jobs that they were qualified for.

You being around military is not the same as being in. The type of people that join are as varied as Americans themselves. You have no clue what you are talking about so stop while you’re ahead.

That’s why that’s disgusting, they target retirees for the menial jobs like the Exchange or Commissary, just to avoid paying someone else more to do a job they can exploit a poor retiree into doing.

You have no clue about my life or what I’ve done or where I’ve been. I say “around the military” because I’m not moronic enough to attach personal information to a forum site. I’m also not doubly moronic enough to sign up for a MOS 11B/C. I know the varied and and different reasons people join the military, and I’m telling you, the vast majority from experience are 1. The poverty stricken who are desperately trying to escape (also included are those joining for housing, food, college tuition, and Tricare) 2. The Jingoistic morons who think killing “Hajis” is defending the freedom of America 3. The career officers 4. Military family children. 5. Those who couldn’t make it in college and decided to join up.

PTSD, suicide, depression, anger, domestic issues, and so much more are the result of guys being traumatized to hell and back from watching their buddies get blown to bits by an IED, killing unarmed civilians, taking the lives of “terrorists” who are doing the same thing anyone would do if their country was invaded, and so on.

Only the career officer desk jockeys and psychotic nationalist pieces of shit look back on their service fondly. Because at the end of the day, what exactly were you doing? What did you accomplish? Was it worth it?

If you can serve and still find meaning in defending the US fucking army, then why bother calling yourself a leftist. Might as well go fully mask off.

It's a damn fine website. I've found no other place with such critical thinking, keeps you on your toes. I particularly like Corbishley's Third World posts, he's always very exacting in his research, and brings attention to things which normally fly under the radar.

I’ve seen old ass supply sergeants like that. And she has a combat action badge so she has been in combat. If someone has the skills the army needs they’ll take you with an age waiver. Not every soldier needs to be a hard charging front line grunt.

I suppose this is true. I'm not a military fellow myself. I guess I'm just not used to the idea of the military putting ads everywhere targeting just random civillians, but then again I'm not American so maybe things are different there.

I am American. If you're in the age range and male you'll get phone calls harassing you to join periodically. The adds are also everywhere... however in the modern age of targeted advertising that might just be because of being the target demographic for military recruiting.
