I didn't realize you posted here yourself. I liked your Zom 100 video.
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you got something from it :D
I noticed you don't have Sousou no Frieren on your list. I think it's pretty good.
I watched a solid bit into the show and hit some points that just didn't hit with me at the time. I've been told it gets past that and becomes even better, but I just haven't felt the motivation to return to watching it. I felt like I got the general vibe from the series enough as is from what I saw.
That being said, some folks say it may be the best anime of the year and I know people seriously adore it, so I'd probably say to anyone reading this comment that they might want to check it out too!
- Tsurune S2
- Frieren (still watching)
- Vinland Saga S2
- Pluto
- Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3
- Oshi no Ko
- The Boy and the Heron
- Link Click S2
- Gold Kingdom Water Kingdom
- Skip and Loafer
From your list, I really enjoyed I'm in Love with the Villainess, Sacrificial Princess, Magical Revolution, and Buddy Daddies. Zom100, Overtake, and Yuri is My Job were on the decent tier. I didn't watch Pluto or Ooku, so can't comment on those. However, Helk was really the one show that I tried so hard to like, but it just couldn't fully get there. I really enjoyed the beginning few episodes, and even the whole flashback arc that a lot of people despised. But after the flashbacks were over, it seemed like they lost their way and tried to do too much and be too many different things. The whole reason the bad guys did everything didn't make any sense (who is farming or making food or providing services in this kingdom?) but I did appreciate the underlying positive message. Maybe now that they've set everything else up, a S2 would be more consistent. I'll still give it a chance if they make more.
For me, my favorite 10 shows this year are probably (in no particular order)
Heavenly Delusion
Tomo Chan is a Girl
Ruroni Kenshin
Apothecary Diary
The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses
Dark Gathering
100 girlfriends Who Really Love You
Undead Girl Murder Farce
Sacrificial Princess
Hell's Paradise
Frieren is still running, otherwise it'd be on here too. Undead Unluck was a serious contender too. That show is a lot of fun.
Lots of other excellent shows on your list, just got around to watching The Apothecary Diaries myself and it would have been a serious contender for a top 10 spot had I just had time to get to it in particular.
Idc if it counts as anime, Blue-eyed Samurai was amazing.
Also, Undead Unluck is a lot of fun, and Jujutsu Kaisen has some of the best fight scenes ever animated.
I'm so sad that Undead Unluck got stuck in Hulu jail, it's such a good show but so few people I know have even seen it or seem to know it exists...
Starting with Winter 2023: Overall a weak season.
Vinland Saga S2 Handyman Saitou In Another World Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill
Spring 2023: A very strong season
Birdie Wing Golf Girls Story S2 Oshi No Ko Chibi Godzilla Raids Again Heavenly Delusion My Home Hero Skip and Loafer
Summer 2023: Honestly I got burned out here, and stopped watching halfway through the season
Man, I didn't even watch ten different shows this year, let alone things that released this year. In order of favorites, the new things I watched are mushoku tensei 2, shield hero 3, and Dr stone (the numbers are too scuffed to remember). And all of those are just continuations of existing series. I'd love to just automatically give GuP Das finale 4 the top slot, but there's no English translation out and I'm not flying to Japan to watch it in person.
Is this a joke or a shitpost or something?
You see, this is a cool thing where someone starts a discussion with their thoughts on anime and hopefully other folks interested share their thoughts too! It's this thing we do on social media, not sure why you think it's a joke?
Unless you just think my taste in anime is trash, then all the power to you! But in that case, complain and share your own top 10 and add to the discussion. Maybe someone with similar tastes will enjoy what they see, ya know?
