Russia has already used North Korean missiles in attacks on Ukraine on December 30 and January 2, - White House

The Russian Armed Forces used ballistic missiles received from the DPRK as part of attacks on Ukraine on December 30 and January 2, White House spokesman John Kirby said.

US intelligence has also established that Russia is negotiating with Iran on the supply of short-range ballistic missiles. There is no agreement yet, but negotiations, according to the White House, are β€œactively moving forward.” WSJ wrote about this earlier.

Kirby called it a "significant" escalation of the conflict.

I remember when Bush called Iraq, Iran and North-Korea the "axis of evil".

I thought he was being a bit extreme, but this war proves that he had a point.

What did Iraq do to collude with Iran and North Korea?

[–] alvvayson@lemmy.world 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This was back in 2001 when Saddam Hussein ruled Iraq.

Obviously, those three countries were not colluding. Iran and Iraq were actually enemies and North Korea had no relation to them at all.

Although most people did agree Saddam was a monster, a lot (including myself) found it a bit weak of an argument to call them an "axis of evil". There was no semblance to the WW2 axis powers.

But I guess now, Russia, Iran and North-Korea do seem to resemble the old axis powers, just weaker and more pathetic, but with nukes.

Yeah i am aware of the history which is why I was confused why there was some truth to it now. But I agree there is truth to it if you replace Iraq with Russia.

russia and putin resembles saddams iraq in some ways, leadership can do as many costly mistakes as it wants and not get thrown out (iran-iraq war, kuwait)

North Korean government apologized, they actually wanted to shoot it at Japan.

I'd be very curious to know the manufacturing date on that missile.

Just rolled out from the 1960 manufacturing line.

It looks shitty as hell, like a V2 copy.
