The member poll actually broke for Trump nearly 2:1. This is the leadership being as sane as they can under the circumstances, which I admit is absolutely not the conclusion I initially jumped to when I first heard about this.

What’s baffling to me is that they did a member poll and apparently the members break for Trump nearly 2:1.

Something something leopards and faces, I guess… but holy fuck is it dismaying to see the membership of one of the biggest unions in the goddamn world support an overt fascist by such a margin. I suppose that that ratio says something about the average intellect of their members.

Wanna go next Tuesday? I’m pretty sure I’m free then.

Be that as it may, it’d be minimal compared to the interference that terrestrial radio observatories have to deal with.

I guess I’m just saying that I don’t understand why you’re being so negative about the concept when it’s clearly going to be orders of magnitude better than existing antennae.

Even if you make them sub-surface, or otherwise shield them from the FOV of the antenna?

Fiber line to the bright side of the moon; transceiver there.

SPAA is going to come back in a big way in the coming years. The effectiveness of these things in Ukraine is crazy.

I don’t think the Gepards support the round type, but some of the new precision-fused airburst rounds (the fuses are wirelessly individually set as it passes through the muzzle, AFTER round velocity is measured a dozen or so cm back (!!!) for maximum burst precision) are crazy. It’s like flak, but it knows EXACTLY where it needs to pop to frag the target, instead of “1000m +/- 100m”.

And then there’s directed energy, which is also going to get interesting.

Ngl I was not aware how pro-Trump the Teamsters appear to be - ~60%, according to the survey the union did. So… enjoy the taste of that boot leather, I guess…?

sigh

~~Ok for real though, was this a union leadership call, or was it a vote? Because I’d be a bit shocked if this was achieved by a vote. And if it was a leadership call, I’d expect new leadership shortly.~~

Edit:

On Wednesday, the union released the results of their survey, which was conducted after Biden dropped out of the race. It found that almost 60% of rank-and-file union members preferred to endorse Trump, while 34% backed Harris.

Jesus christ. The aggregate idiocy is shocking.

It really does beggar belief. They used to be THE one to beat. Now they’re hemorrhaging money and reputation, and figuring out how to deal with a multi-generational lithography deficiency - not to mention, the implications that that problem has on their lack of testing rigor, improper QC reporting processes, or both.

So, thank you, Finance and MBA assholes, for driving a titan of American industry into the ground, I guess. I wish you’d all get fired, but you won’t, I’m sure.

Oh huh… I did not actually realize this was a tendency for ADHD spectrum people. Though I’m pretty sure I’ve got a lot least one or two that are 100% real, so that’s fun too

👀Russian D-30 howitzer with anti-drone screen and dynamic tank protection. Dynamic protection, in essence, is blocks of plastic that explode towards the cumulative stream of anti-tank ammunition and deflect it to the side. Placing this protection on anything other than the powerful armor of a tank is fraught with even greater damage to the “protected” object. Published by Balu.

Personal commentary: reading the summary (I did not watch the interview live), I’m not really seeing anything that assuages my concerns about his mental acuity. More importantly, I’m not seeing anything that indicates he’s being anything even close to as pragmatic as Macron is being with the election they’re doing now in France, with regards to just trying to make sure the fascists do not fucking win. I must admit I’m feeling quite pessimistic about things.

Also available with a roasted crab, which is what they’re famous for, but this version is still delicious, because those noodles are straight crack
