Lower Decks does nothing but reinforce this idea. Even Tendi is excited to fuck with shit. She's an Orion so The Federation encourages her to follow that feeling of exploring on your own terms and so she went into medicine. To make fleshy equivalents of inventions that should not be. Like the Dog.
