In the photo on RNZ there are two overflowing tanks with a bank behind them. You can spot the tanks on Google Maps, next to the middle shed:

How the hell is it that the RMA has, by all accounts, been the largest single drag on construction in this country and is one of (the many) causes of the housing crisis, yet it can't even prevent literal shit being dumped in our rivers "for years"?

I despair for this country. We're fucked. I'd say bring on the election but whoever gets in, it'll be more of the same.

Yup, I don't think there is any single party that is willing to take bold steps to fix the underlying issues this country faces, the biggest of which is the insane cost of housing.

We should be building state houses by the thousand, breaking the stranglehold Fletcher building has on the economy, and putting in medium and high density housing along every public transport corridor.

Meanwhile, National are beating the drum about roads, some of which we need, to be fair, Act are being Libertarian shitheads as usual, Winnie is shitstirring as usual, and the three headed clusterfuck won't stop trying to divide the country along racial lines.

And while this is going on, we're discharging raw effluent into our waterways, as usual.

Everyone says they want RMA reform, but the reason why it hasn't happened (even though it's been on the agenda for at least a decade) is that everyone has very different ideas about what that reform should be.

Some want it to make it easier for construction, others want better environmental protection. For the most part, these are diametrically opposed.

I understand that there must be a whole lot of hoops to jump through etc, but how is it not possible to shut something down for such blatant wrongdoings?
