To be fair, same things with cats. Although they have less mass (and thus a bit less destructive), in compensation, the occasional bouts of destruction appear through the life. Christmas tree? Nope, cat exercise tree.

I always felt like cats were more into targeted destruction. When my cat broke something I usually used it just a few minutes before.

While dogs are like... just gnawing through everything they can put into their mouth. Whenever I'm at my mother's her dogs love of senseless destruction amazes me.

I used to have a nice pair of gorilla slippers for years until my old dog ate one. I can't find a replacement for them due to my shoe size.

He has also destroyed regular shoes, a tv remote, wireless keyboard and mouse, a dog training book, and part of a door frame. (among other less consequential things.)

He was a big dog, (130+lbs) The teething phase was especially rough for all of us. My other dog actually took to hiding her favorite toys from him to avoid the furry shredder.

We have a pup in the raptor phase right now, complete with too much intelligence for his own good. He's a headstrong bastard with a strong taste for mischief and bathroom trash (he has a weird thing about pads, it's fucking gross), but I just can't stay mad at him when he gets all sleepy and snuggly.
