Hell yeah.

Plus, was just having this thought recently, who needs micro transactions in single player games when mods exist? And CDPR has been great with mods.

Even if it's multiplayer, I can see non performance enhancing mods being OK, which then throws things like mtx skins out the window.

Only micro transactions I've done have been on f2p games where I enjoyed what I was playing and wanna give money to the developer.

CDPR could be a lot better with mods, they intentionally undercooked their mod tools to 'protect' DLC sales. Didn't stop people from doing some wild things like replacing all combat with themed Gwent decks.

Actually glad to hear about this rather than hearing more "Loot boxes" or "Battle pass".

Too often do we feel hate about bad things, and too little do we voice our love toward good things.

Ah I see they're using the low hanging fruits for free PR again. I'm sure everyone will forget about the state their games released in when it's time to pre order the witcher 4

Yep, it's exactly what people said would happen after 2077 came out. In about a year or two we're gonna start seeing articles like "Henry Cavill saw an early preview of the Witcher 4 and said it was AMAZING!!!" and people are gonna eat that shit up.

I won't forget the state they release in, but I also won't forget the state they end up being in.

So how long's it gonna take them to break this promise too?

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 4 points 7 months ago

sure, but thats a bit weird coming from a company that sees a place in selling unfinished and unplayable games for full AAA price

Their release wasn't great for many people but they did improve it constantly over the years. To be fair as a PC player I didn't have many issues so my opinion is biased.

I think it's a shame that they improved the game. CDPR claims to have satirised the objectification of trans bodies for profit, but the way they've done so is by objectifying trans bodies for profit. It's not actually a satire or critique, it's a trope played straight, and that's harmful. One of the winners of their cosplay contest was a cis woman who shoved a glowing neon dildo down her pants, and they posted her cosplay on twitter to congratulate her. I liked the fact that the game responsible for these controversies was bad. I want people to have negative feelings associated with a game that does this, and a negative image of a company that does this.

Nothing inside a video game should cost real money.

The fact CD Projekt is even commenting on this is a sign of its creeping dominance over the industry. It is half of all revenue. Only legislation will stop this.
