There's a certain cheesiness and non-political-correctness that's refreshing.

Also discovered a few mods like Shockwave that I wanna try.

I used to play against the computer as the particle weapons general, build up a massive defensive perimeter, build a bunch of particle cannons, and then draw dicks in the enemy base with the laser.

It's one of my favorite games of all time.

Before my deck crapped out I was playing around with OpenRA, that was pretty fun. Romanov's Vengeance really scratched my Red Alert 2 itch.

Yeah, RA2 was the peak for me

Same, Generals and Tiberian Wars were all right but RA2 and Tiberian Sun were my jam.

I haven't played it in forever, but I put a ton of time into it long ago. My friend and I would play matches as a team and one of us would play the Chinese general with the neutron artillery shell. As soon as we could, we'd build one and force shell one of each of our dozers, then take the others, so both of us could build everything from both of our factions. The Contra mod is also really great!

Great game. Wish I had time to still play it, or the like.

There's a Generals Evolution mod for Red Alert 3, which super-glues Generals to RA3 and it's pretty great.

It is my favorite RTS hands down.

It's a reminder of how the mail anthrax attacks were so soon after the 9/11 attacks, we thought they were related.

Still one of my favorite games to play every now and then. Great modding scene too.

what mods do you like? There's a bunch but I don't know what's good!

Rise of the Reds is my favorite, but Shockwave and Contra are also pretty good. Only issue I have is the performance takes a hit since the game is so heavily single threaded and the game logic is tied to the frame rate. Luckily there are a couple projects trying to alleviate that but they’re a long way from being ready. OpenSage and Thyme specifically. GenLauncher is helpful for trying out the different mods at least.

I usually end up just playing Zero Hour with a few GenTool modifications though.

I played it lots back in the day. I was watching a random Twitch stream last night for C&C Generals multiplayer. 5 player skirmish was just an absolute frenzy.

Sometimes play with my siblings. The lost connection thing was super annoying until we figured that it comes from the maps. There's 5 player maps w/o the bug, most 8 player maps have it

I used to play it alot, especially with friends. But often we could not complete a whole game before it "lidt connection" and kicked everyone. Was kinda annoying.

But currently, Iam waiting for Tempest rising and stormgate, and hoping one of them lives up to zero hour!

Ah man. Now I'm gonna have to pull out the ol red alert 2. The only game I've played where 10 hours just disappeared. Started just after breakfast and next thing I realise, everyone in the house is fast asleep and it's pitch black outside.

Did EA delist the game? I can't find it anywhere to purchase.
