/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

I have no strong feelings about this one way or the other.

[–] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 29 points 1 year ago

What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality!?

[–] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 17 points 1 year ago

Beige alert.

first: delete the default cube.

Then you will either be assimilated by a teapot or a monkey.

[–] DmMacniel@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

well I dabble with it from time to time.

"Resistance is just, like, an opinion, man."

[–] cheesymoonshadow 4 points 1 year ago

Shut the fuck up, Wesley!

[–] Niksolo80@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They’ve gone plaid, no wait, they’ve gone taupe!

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

They say taupe is soothing.

We are the Beige Borg. You will be decolorized. We will not add your distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will become bland like us. Resistance is boring.

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's like a genre mix of Star Trek and Minecraft.
So in combination:

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I was thinking more 'cardboard box,' but an actual cardboard box didn't look right to me.

[–] Lath@kbin.earth 8 points 1 year ago

We are the bored. Your memes will be assimilated. Resistance is down voted.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Is that made of rice or krispy?

Considered an Earth delicacy on Vulcan.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

No wonder they suppress thier emotions.

[–] groucho@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 1 year ago

Wes Anderson's First Contact

[–] aniki@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

This is what happens when the Borg assimilates too many tiktok moms.

[–] GreenPlasticSushiGrass@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Børgenkjübbe by Ikea.

[–] Makeitstop@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

The Central Bureaucracy. Resistance is futile. And so is compliance.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 4 points 1 year ago

They left the texture on the other side of the transwarp conduit

[–] sagrotan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

They boldly discovered mass media and a large part of the net.

[–] mercano@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

It’s the 80’s. If you want something rendered in real time, this is the best you’re going to get. Be happy there’s a beveled edge.

[–] MidnightBanjo@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 year ago

So this might make the borg less threatening, but I feel like it would infuriate these explorers. ‘What do you mean you don’t want to talk to us anymore’?

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 year ago

that sand block is falling

[–] thezeesystem@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Why am I so fascinated with it, it's so warm, makes me feel... Happy? I must study it more. The cravings of it are getting out of control, I have to make a golden cube sculpture. With anything around me. Even dirt. Praise the cube. Hail the cube.

[–] sxan@midwest.social 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I feel as if spheres are more boring than cubes, especially in space. The universe is filled with spheres; not so many perfect cubes.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Spherical spaceships are harder to build. The Borg are all about efficiency.

[–] sxan@midwest.social 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The sphere is the most efficient use of volume in space. Rectangles are only convenient for humans, and the Borg should not be concerned about convenience.

If the Borg were really about efficiency, they'd build spheres. But spheres are more boring, which comes back to my original point.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

It's a lot easier to make a flat steel i-beam than it is to make a curved steel i-beam. Who knows what their manufacturing process is though. They probably just 3d print those things, or grow them out of nanobots, and then my point is moot.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

And the Boring are all about keeping the sides straight, but if they tell you why, it will take three hours and a lot of math.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah, but the spheres are usually pretty interesting.
