programmer here too: use them daily!

lists niche-specific list of requirements Genuinely surprised this doesn't exist.

Most of what you want already exist in tons of simple php scripts that will take a directory and present each directory as a gallery. The live transcoding thing is something you can always add, because ya know, the majority of servers do not have GPUs.

One can buy lots of electronics parts from there. Shall we both go down every local channel and argue the same?

Impeach him and find out?

Compared to in-fighting against each other?

I think it's fair to say, the honeymoon has long since passed. Has any other president been pulled infront of judges so many times for their actions in such a short space of time?

It raises public awareness significantly that other people feel the same. And who knows who Trump will piss off next, and his favors could quickly run out in congress.

Ah well in that case it wouldn't be needed because as soon as it's in range of the local network would be easier than taking the trouble of using nfc!

It's awesome that more people are discovering new useful software through answering here!

Would you be able to trigger it using something like nfc actions, so you'd only have to swipe an nfc tag and it'd start copying automatically? In which case, a few cheap nfc stickers from china, throw them about the house / apt and then carry on with your life.

And have you ever read the forms? I don’t know if writing the software could be seen as tax advice or filing on behalf of someone.

Who would use the software if it didn't suggest ways to save them money, which would then take on the burden of actually being legally correct? UK tax accounts can be submitted directly to the government which requires an additional level of checks by them. Accounting is relatively simple to understand for UK accounting... until it isn't. It becomes very complicated, very quickly, and that dramatically alters the database schema, alters workflows, and this stuff can be in a constant state of flux. Corporate accountancy laws are very different to personal tax accounting, and keeping abreast of both situations can be very difficult to manage.

I spoke to a person representing a fairly small commercial accounting SaaS who said they specifically only target high-net-worth companies who can afford to pay the prices they need to turn a profit, and that's why they put on silly fake award shows (my words) for people within these companies (mostly c-suite people) to placate them into spending more money with them.

Doesn't sound good now does it? No one will take that responsibility for free.

Now we're getting somewhere!

Letting nazis and fascists do what they want

So people driving cybertrucks is somehow making things go to shit? Or is it actually the actions or the world's richest man and his sidekick that has nothing to do with Mr Smith who drives a cybertruck?

I have a community-based website and I'd like to add a text and video-chat feature to it. I'd like it to be text-first and video second, so you don't have to be streaming to be in the room and for the main part, to be text. Everything I find is video-only. I can host the video streaming data myself.

Is there some project that the opensource world is missing that you think it needs?

Welcome! A completely unofficial English-speaking channel for discussing AliExpress and AliBaba, interesting products you find there or asking for product recommendations, scams to look out for, and more.

Lost the house of my dreams today. Before putting an offer down, I call up some conveyancers to get quotes for work done and one of them instead views and puts an offer down.

Super angry. Had been researching it for about three weeks asking questions and wanting a second viewing. The agency didn't even respond to my first email asking questions for about ten days because apparently it was in their spam box.

I kinda want to go to the agency and flip the tables (not literally, I'm a skinny shit) and for this conveyancer to do it is probably a conflict of interest.

So yeah, really annoyed and have been stewing all day. How do you deal with such situations?

Still true today as it was back then.

And for the non-native English speakers

All the people under broken homes Don't wanna fight no more

All the people nursing shattered bones Don't wanna fight no more But there's no profit in peace So we've gotta fight some more

And all these who are in foreign lands Don't wanna fight no more And all those who've lost their feet or hands Don't wanna fight no more But there's no profit in peace boys We gotta fight some more

Hey we don't wanna fight no more Hey, Hey, Hey, We don't wanna fight no more But theres' no profit in peace So we gotta fight some more

And all those just trying to play their part Don't wanna fight no more And all those who own a human heart Don't wanna fight no more But there's no profit in what you want So we must fight some more

And all those who got an axe to grind Don't wanna fight no more And all those who got their burning lives Don't wanna fight no more But there's no profit in ever being right So we must fight some more

Hey we don't wanna fight no more Hey, Hey, Hey, We don't wanna fight no more But theres' no profit in peace So we gotta fight some more

And all the people under broken homes Don't wanna fight no more All the people never going home Don't wanna fight no more But there is profit in the land you own So we must fight some more

And all those who got a tired face Don't wanna fight no more And all those who are lost without a trace Don't wanna fight no more But there is profit in the love of hate So we must fight some more

Dell M4800 with a K2100 and I want to shove an M2200 in there. Both are MXM A. When putting the new card in, do I need thermal paste on the main chip or do I just bung the heatsink over it?

I bought the card from AliExpress, it looks shiny new and hoping it isn't a surface fake, so it reports it's an M2200, but burns out after a month!

Not sure if off-topic, but what's the best way to go about finding coding gigs at the moment? Need some urgent funds so need to reach out to people somehow.

I think of linkedin as a facebook for businesses leading you open to being spammed by agencies, which I don't really want.

Though I have years of experience of coding across many languages and fields (audio, computer vision, e-commerce backends, etc), and github accounts over the years with some pushes to the core of a few major projects, I haven't really kept the accounts, and past projects have nearly always been back-ends for clients so can't exactly add them to a portfolio.

Languages I'm currently using would be python / php (including symfony and laravel), though happy to switch to javascript/html coding, some c/c++ etc, so I'm not tied to one area I guess.

Is there a decent place to advertise or, is there a better way lately? Thanks

I'm working on a project that needs lots of toolbars on screen at once, even though not all of them will be used at the same time. So, I'm modelling this 'foldable' dock widget after what I remember Photoshop panels used to be like.

It's a work in progress, but would like to hear constructive suggestions.

Might as well help get this channel off to a flying start!

What's your favourite switch (key type) and why? What would you like to try but haven't yet and what have you tried but wasn't for you?

Working on a class that I'd like to use in a library (not for work) and think I'd appreciate external opinions!

If not, where else could I post code for critique? Thanks

They're noisy, clacky, impossible to use in an office, in your house without headphones, perhaps even annoying neighbours, need effort to make them work on USB, so why do people love them so much?

I've tested two. Didn't like them because sometimes if you don't hit the keys head on, they move a bit to the side with the spring and that's jarring on your fingers.

Where do you stand on the debate?

Also, first post, so what better a topic!

A great way to learn the basics. It'll be old, but that's ok. It's going to cover all the shell basics and then more. It's still going to be useful, it'll cost you pennies, you'll be able to dip into it when you want, and you'll be giving to a good cause.
