Take a look at the Raspberry Pi based PiKVM. You can also find kits based on the original design for a third of the price on amazon.

Keyboard and mouse would still be plugged into the desktop, the kvm emulates both via USB

    • ASrock DeskMeet Mainboard (fits perfectly :D)
    • Intel Core i3 12100
    • 64GB RAM (probably overkill, but this was my main server until recently)
    • 2x2TB ZFS pools (enough for my needs)
  • Proxmox cluster
    • 3xDell Wyse 5070 (16-32GB RAM, each with 2x500GB mirrored ZFS Pool)
  1. HomeAssistant, Mosquitto, Zigbee2Mqtt, NodeRed, Grafana ...
  2. Frigate with Coral TPU, Syncthing, CUPS ...
  3. The 5070 Extended is currently used for testing, intended as spare in case one node dies
  • 2xDell Wyse 3040
    • Just for fun, currently not in use :^)
  • PiKVM - newest addition, currently testing. Need to get a HDMI/USB KVM to connect multpile hosts
