Guinan shoulda replaced Troi. She’s 1000% better at helping you solve your problems.

As a Taoist, I don’t believe in any deity and my beliefs boil down to letting people be who they are meant to and want to be and supporting them as much as I can in their personal journeys. That’s not an outdated or childish belief system. You’re conflating Abrahamic religions and mysticism with all religion and you don’t seem to have invested much time in understanding religion as a tool and concept outside of those areas.

Respecting people’s cultures and religion boils down to respecting people - if you believe that people shouldn’t be generally respected then your views are no more developed than that of a selfish child and you are the thing you’re complaining about.

Hamas is evil, they’re a literal terrorist organization that uses fear and violence as their primary tools and methods. The situation Hamas operates in is absolutely nuanced but saying a terrorist organization is evil and supporting a terrorist organization makes you complicit in supporting evil is not an indicator of a simplistic world view, it’s stating an objective fact. If anything you’re the one expressing a simplistic worldview by ignoring the obvious truths of the situation and its various pieces in favor of obfuscating the parts of the situation that are self evident and clear.

Hamas is evil and anyone on here supporting them are complicit in supporting evil.

Feels like another entry in the “full length, live action commercials” series. Joining Tetris, BlackBerry, Barbie, Jobs, GI Joe, Social Network, Transformers, and even Star Wars since licensing and derivative products make more money than their actual tv and movie content.

I really dislike this trend, even if some of the movies are sometimes good. Feels icky and insincere.

The devs are literally in this thread explaining why this contractually required language is in the app. There’s nothing “sneaky” going on, especially since the notification in OP’s post is so explicit. If you wanna share how you monetize an ad based experience without google or similar required language go right ahead.

Knee jerk responses like this are why Lemmy seems doomed to stagnate and die. And this is coming from someone who used to be all in. Utterly tired of the mob of goofs that think everything should be developed for free and anyone that tries to make a legitimate living in this space is an evil bastard.

This episode will forever be the test of whether someone who likes Trek is a fun person.

10/10.

It was honestly a perfect combo of the two shows. Many moments had me howling.

Boimler exclaiming “RIKER” as he hopped on the saddle had me howling. Frakes is such a sport!

Please leave knee-jerk reactions on Reddit. There’s no reason to talk to people like that.

This is something I want to do with the channel but am considering waiting till we get at least 1000 subscribers so theres enough people to make the server viable. Before making that decision, Id like to get your feedback!

I am flabbergasted that this actually got made! I loved this game series as a kid and am morbidly curious about a tv adapation.

I’m a huge Indiana Jones fan and finally saw Dial of Destiny last night. Sadly, I didn’t really enjoy it. The deaging was distracting and didn’t add anything to the story and Harrison Ford is honestly too old to be playing Indy anymore. His performance reminded me of Patrick Stewart in Picard - trying so hard to reach the quality of his former iconic character but not having the ability anymore to do it successfully. I also expected more from Mangold. Logan was such a high quality movie that I assumed everything Mangold would do after would be top tier but this movie kinda proves that Disney’s army of producers can ruin any talented directors work and there’s no reason to get excited about a specific director if Disney is involved.

What did y’all think of Dial of Destiny? Do you feel similar or are my opinions off base?

Seems like a solid first season! I’m most excited for the story - it’s described as a stand-alone tale instead of a direct continuation of the campaign. It will deal somewhat with the fallout of Inarius’ death and what’s going on with the Cathedral of Light now. This will certainly be a treat for us lore-nerds.

Anyone else gonna be starting the season day 1?

Felt like a neat add on to TOS but probably my least favorite of the season so far even tho I did like it.

I’m still pretty lukewarm on the Pike/Batel relationship. The reunion at the end didn’t feel very earned. Would be nice to get some more time with those two so I can get why I’m supposed to like them as a couple.

Hey folks,

I setup a community called nerdgeist on lemmy.world as an inclusive space to nerd out around stuff you’re passionate about that maybe those in your immediate IRL communities don’t appreciate as much.

Come check us out and join the conversation!

My partner and I just started it and are about 6 episodes in and it’s honestly pretty interesting. It has some YA novel feeling issues but it overall seems like a well done show.

I like how the showrunners are able to have all the characters talk to and treat younger people in the show like they’re normal adults/people. There’s no talking down or disregarding them because of their age. The one time where someone tried that (when the aeronaut met Lyra) the notion got shot down immediately. Is that an aspect in the books as well? Seems like a refreshing choice.
