  • Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip/Flying Wing, gold
  • Blade: GEM PTFE
  • Brush: AP Shave Co. 30 mm Tuxedo Fan w/ black & clear handle
  • Lather: Jean & Len - Fresh Menthol Rasierpaste (shaving cream)
  • Post Shave: Thayer's Cucumber facial spray; Jean & Len moisturizer

A short head shave I did before departing for a final time to my internship place. One pass and done.

This shaving cream in a glass jar arrived together with the Feather Popular I could finally get yesterday, so today was a first experience. Jean & Len make interesting skincare products that I really dig, although this shaving cream is not available on their website anymore. It still was there on Amazon, so I grabbed one. They advertised it as "made in Germany"; so I believe it's made for them by Meißner Tremonia. MT also uses glass jars and also has a scent of the same name in their line-up. Actually, the smell is pretty much all eucalyptus and rosemary - kinda like a sports cream. It is nice to spread around and easy to lather though, no complaints here. The glide is pretty good, not as great as for example the WK Siero base, but still very useful for shaving...

Using a GEM again after a long time, at first I thought it'd turn out bad. To my pleasant surprise, it was a very good and comfortable shave!

I'm really sorry that I missed your comment!

PM is on the way, I'd gladly partake 👍🏻

That seems like snobbery to me. Your posts are well readable and more people should realise that there's quite a sizable difference between British English and American English.

Oh, definitely not. I just thought it was an interesting tidbit since this was completely omitted in the movie scene. Didn't really think that the vain yuppie psycho killer would recommend a shaving brush - then again, it's set in the 80s where brush use was far more common. Also, no offense meant since I am also guilty of this: the way we describe our routines in wetshaving down to the smallest detail is very akin to Patrick Bateman's inner monologue - at least the one in the book.

  • Prep: warm water
  • Razor: Headblade S4 Lunar Eclipse
  • Blade: HB 2
  • Brush: AP Shave Co. Snakeskin w/ 26 mm Fan/Flattop
  • Lather: Proraso Wood & Spice cream
  • Post Shave: Phytorelax Headshave ASB

So today's shave was basically a repeat of yesterday. I brought the Headblade with me for convenience - the Proraso cream is almost empty, so I hope I'll be able to kill it while I'm over here.

1 pass, very fast but not super comfortable. Well, there's always a downside to everything.

  • Brush: TGS Galaxy 26 mm

Just a 2 pass head shave at night. I had a lot of stubble on the dome, so two passes were really needed.

I love smelling LGC, despite the notes sounding like something way different it always reminds me of a very great cola/coke. Plus it's in Omnibus so the added slickness was very great for shaving off all those pesky little hairs.

My weekend was really productive, yesterday I bought a new coat and gloves and today I finished a crafty project for an ex-colleague & friend together with my mom. Unfortunately I didn't find time for a workout, but there's always tomorrow...

  • Lather: Speick - shaving cream
  • Post Shave: Thayer's Aloe Vera toner; Natura Siberica ASB gel
  • Fragrance: Bois 1920 - Oro Nero EdP sample

Phew, almost forgot my SOTD post again... It was a very busy day.

A quick head shave I did after a very fast shopping trip. One pass + cleanup with the HB. One nick due to being too rushed. Seriously, f**k cartridge razor systems. Other than that minor inconvenience, I was surprised by the quality lather I got out of Speick cream. Very slick and nice. The final decision on the EdP is: pass. It fades to a boring vanilla scent and I got absolutely zero positive responses about it. Totally not my style... The nice similarities to Interlude Man by Amouage last too short. And I wore it all evening...

So today I went to print my pictures with my colleagues, then visited my parents in the afternoon for a coffee to celebrate dad's 57th birthday (we have a rather difficult relationship and it went surprisingly well for that). Then in the evening, I drove to my old nursing home one last time to celebrate with my colleagues. Originally, we had a Christmas party planned for last week's Friday which was cancelled. So we did a "Year's End party" today instead - which also turned out to be a farwell party for me! I was very surprised by all the warm words and the many gifts they gave me. Seriously, I had to hold back tears... It's not an easy time for me atm, but they did the best they could to give me a proper and dignified farewell. I'm so grateful that in the short time were I worked on their station (only transferred there in September of last year) I was able to make some new friends who wholeheartedly accept me like I worked for over a decade with them... Honestly, I'm still a bit overwhelmed... I lost good colleagues, but our friendship will stay - and for that I am so very grateful!

A fast head shave done before today's shift. Just one pass and done!

The real star today was the fragrance sample. It was the second day of wearing it and it immediately reminded me of HAGS Aftermath - which in turn is a homage to Amouage Interlude Man, a great but expensive perfume. Maybe I'll get a full-size one day.

Given that the Aristocrat razors have stood the test of time, I guess it's a Christmas gift a lot of men would still appreciate today. Especially in such a nice box!

  • Prep: warm water
  • Razor: Headblade S4 Lunar Eclipse
  • Blade: HB 2
  • Brush: none
  • Lather: Tolpa - sensitive skin shaving gel
  • Post Shave: Thayer's Aloe Vera toner; Natura Siberica ASB gel
  • Fragrance: Dior - Eau Sauvage EdP

A quick single pass headshave I did before today's late shift. Not very luxurious, but it got the job done in a short time.

I guess the main part about Headblade products was that they are/were sold as a complete system: razors, shaving gel and aftershave products specially targeted towards bald people. It was innovative, sure; but for the most part it's just very gimmicky. It's actually worse than a normal cartridge razor for shaving behind the ears due to the small size. The Moto was probably their best razor, but unfortunately it doesn't use the 2-blade cartridges. The S4 is based on the ATX design. Unfortunately, most products marketed towards headshavers are simply marketing gimmicks. You can use the same products you use for your face, although I personally don't recommend alcohol aftershaves for your scalp. Given that, I will use up my current stash of HB 2 and not get any replacements thereafter. Safety razors, no matter if DE or SE, just work the same or better for me.

The star of today was my fragrance - Eau Sauvage is described by Dior as "once revolutionary, now a timeless classic". It surely is a very wearable fragrance and very different to the modern mainstream Sauvage. However, to me it's more of a summer scent. For next year, I will try to get more into niche fragrances made by small artisans. Some mainstream offerings smell very good, but they lack definition if you know what I mean - that little "roughness around the edges", the experimental, the avant-garde. You smell like the nice guy next door and that's simply not me. Took me long enough to find out that I don't really appreciate that.

Wellness night shave. Two passes on my head, 1 around the beard area/neck.

Currently I am back to a beardstache and loving it. With partial beards, I always am overly obsessed with symmetry and getting every little line right - this is much more easy going.

I had the day off before another early shift tomorrow, relaxed a bit and already started to work on my resignation.

Since it's Thanksgiving over in the US, I also want to use the opportunity to thank everyone who works on this Lemmy instance and keeps it a nice little shave haven for those of us who've fled from Reddit. All of you folks do a terrific job and you can be proud of this tiny community!

  • Post Shave: Southern Witchcrafts - Boonana AS

The cold is on its way out and my sense of smell has slowly returned. Time for a scented 2-pass face shave...

Unfortunately, today's software is a bittersweet affair for me. I actually gave it away with tons of other stuff to help a fellow german who participated in the Lather Games this year. Despite me mentioning over 3 times that he can keep everything I sent him, he sent everything back a few days ago - without informing me. Including half used AS samples that I threw away immediately. Oh, and I had to clean the top layer of the Boonana soap since apparently rinsing soaps wasn't his thing either! I'm really pissed about the situation in case it isn't obvious...

However, Boonana is actually not as bad as I remembered. I still know how hyped I was for the release, everyone on Reddit having praised it... And to me, it was just a weak attempt at Samhain but with banana peel instead of pumpkin. However, on its own it isn't a bad scent. Quite the contrary - it's rare to see SW go in a gourmand direction. It's actually a pretty wearable scent, just not the hype beast everyone made it out to be.

Enough of my ramblings - hope everyone's Sunday was nice ✌🏻

  • Post Shave: Stirling Soap - Autumn Glory AS; moisturizer

2 pass face shave that took place before my late shift. What else to use for a cloudy, rainy day than Autumn Glory? It's a very similar scent to a popular Yankee Candle of the same name and I really enjoy it. I kinda messed up with the fragrance for today, Halloween Man X is more of a treat than a trick. Means it's much too sweet in contrast to the darker Autumn Glory - but you can't always get it 100% right.

Streets were nicely empty today, as it's a public holiday over here. But nursing is a profession that never stops and I get a little bonus for working on holidays...
