they're certainly perpetuating racism in keeping the name. Clarence Thomas is Black and he's racist against Black people, so it definitely happens.
"these days" aka "has been offensive for at least 30 years"
"colored people" is racist and if you think it's okay to say, you're racist too.
It's been racist for several decades, and it's not benign at all.
If you find yourself agreeing with a bigot, maybe reexamine your rhetoric
The fact that this racist-at-best, woefully-ignorant-at-worst comment is at +40 votes right now is pretty telling to me. Guess the userbase of lemmy.world is pretty bigoted.
The President isn't elected by majority rule is the first thing that comes to mind.
Anyone with half a brain cell knows it's not the LGBTQIA+ community grooming children, and the data shows it. It's priest, family members, and teachers. Anyone who was actually a member of the alphabet mafia would be shouted from the rooftops by Fox, just like they did when the trans person committed a mass shooting, ignoring that White Men commit them at like 1000x times the rate of trans people.
I'll vote Democrat even though I'm a Leftist, because

they're the ones that most align with my views. Biden has surprised me (in a good way) with what he's been able to pass / has attempted to pass.

Republicans want to make life worse for everyone who isn't a Straight White Christian Male, and they're succeeding (see Supreme Court, Florida). I believe in equal rights for all Americans/Humans, and Republicans clearly do not.
It's pretty much an objective fact that voting third-party (especially in a swing state), is indeed "throwing your vote away". It has been well studied and well documented.
lol that's now how I meant it but I can see how it could be interpreted that way. I meant that the comment is clearly racist so "at worst" meaning like the OP didn't MEAN to say something super racist but now everyone thinks they're racist.
