The failure rate may be considered unacceptably high for some people, hence 4B.

The good news is that since sterilization is a one-time thing, medical tourism (for those with the means) becomes a viable option. I don't see them banning international travel.

Of course this does increase the barrier and will be out of reach for those who can least afford to have children.

It's also puts people who don't want to have kids at all in a tough spot. It makes surgical sterilization effectively mandatory.

Part of 4B is to avoid pregnancy, especially in an environment that has banned abortions and restricted contraceptives (e.g. Project 2025).

[-] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com 1 points 5 days ago

The point of 4B isn't to "own" anyone. It's to avoid exploitative relationships and pregnancy. Abortion bans and restrictions on contraceptives, as proposed in Project 2025, increase the risks of having sex.

MGTOW is a legitimate thing on its own and doesn't have anything inherently wrong with it. Unfortunately it has been mostly co-opted by misogynists. The "movement" (if we want to call it that) has been tainted by these bad actors.

Yeah, tech is going to further entrench those in power and further the divide between them and everyone else. We are headed towards a very dystopian future.

Apply this protest over generational periods of time, we end up in a world with way more people from the population that didn’t choose to abstain from procreation

The alternative is to try and outbreed them. Given that we're running headlong towards climate change and ever-increasing environmental toxins, this is not a winning play. I'm willing to step back and opt out of this reproductive arms race.

While parents certainly have an influence on their children's ideologies and political leanings, it isn't deterministic. Those children do still have agency, and external factors such as education (which yes, I know is under attack) and urbanization matter. Or even just simple youthful rebelliousness.

Regardless, I wouldn't advocate left-leaning people to have more kids in some ill-advised attempt at a reproductive arms race. Among other issues, we are still staring in the face of environmental collapse.

Completely reasonable response to Project 2025.

No sarcasm, I'm quite serious. This is the play.

Also: set a nonstandard finger in a weird way as your finger unlock if you wanna use that

I actually do this. 3 wrong attempts and the phone requires a password.

I consider it a very light measure and not something to rely on alone, but it's a bit of a no-brainer for how easy and unobtrusive this is.

or can move your finger to the fingerprint sensor).

Good luck guessing which finger and on which hand. You have 3 tries before a password is required.
