Read the book A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn.

The us history was never like they teach it in school, but it is getting worse

He's going to weaponize this to go after Sanders, Warren, AOC and the like.

..And we're continuing our march to 1930s Germany

EDIT: I wouldn't be surprised that he used this as an excuse to kick out all Democrats from government, just like evil mustache man did.

I don't think so necessarily, look at the Vikings. Sure, they would pillage towns to survive, but even though they discovered America way before Columbus, they didn't go in and invaded and killed almost every native there like Columbus did. I think the colonization is more of an ideology that came upon some groups that happened to be led by sociopaths (i. e. The Romans, The Greek, and The Mongols).

Hell, look historically at the Incas, the Chinese empire, and the mongols under Ghengis Kahn, none of them weren't white but they where all colonizers as well, just small fry to the Romans who then turned to the English, Spanish, and I think Dutch.

The other factor is religion, Christianity was a common factor in all these white colonizers who came to America. Buy the real reason was to find gold to fund their expansions. If Columbus wouldn't have seen any gold jewelry on the chief of that first village and found no other precious metals, who knows what would have happened, maybe other Europeans might have visited later again, but it could have been with a much less colonizer mentality and more of simply exploration.

My bad, dunno how I could confuse my authors

Same for H. G. Wells- The Time Machine book in the part where the traveler meets the Morlocks and the Eloi.

EDIT: Got my authors mixed up, it wasn't Jules Verne.

Shoot every single nuke to space and detonate all nukes in space.

Maybe, but only if I become a dictator to remove and spread my power to smaller government organizations. Basically instead of having one source of power, I dilute the government into multiple governments that also police each other and not one of them have power to govern over all others. Additionally, police and military would be the only "governments" that have slightly less governing power than the rest because while we still need police and military I don't want them to use their weapons to muscle their way over the other governments.

Note: I am not saying it's perfect or covers all cases, but I believe that having a central point of power is the biggest issue with a dictator becoming corrupt and this applies even to non-dictators (hint-hint). Maybe I am wrong and I invite polite discourse on the subject.

Makes me want a Graphene OS phone more than ever. Fuck Google

Also, no It's not about the security vulnerability, devs already said they can work around this issue. It's more because Google doesn't deserve anyone's data, much less mine.

No awards are needed, just wanted to share my excitement that while my Jellyfin server still keeps loosing my entire library every 24 hours at least now it has a domain and ssl cert!

That is all. Happy Friday everyone

Hi everyone, I have Truenas core running on an old desktop at home. For the past year everything has been going great. However for the past month or so I started to notice that my SMB share for Jellyfin was getting reset to some 6 movies. All of my home videos, music, TV shows, and other movies where gone. I have a backup drive where I store all this data so I copied the files back and Jellyfin saw them immediately again... but by the next day all where gone again. At first I thought someone had deleted them by accident so I checked the user access of my family members and no one except me has access to delete movies and the logs don't show any media deletion that I wasn't aware of (I found 2 duplicated movies). The server isn't exposed in any way to the internet except for a VPN connection that I keep closed tabs regarding access. I checked the permissions of Jellyfin's container in my Truenas server and both UID and GID are set to 568 per the Internet's recommendation when I set it up originally. My server is running on two 4TB HDDs configured in a mirror. I checked the health of both drives and both show healthy and without errors. I still suspect that when the server syncs the data, that somehow the data from the wrong drive is overwriting the data of the one with the media and deleting it, but I don't know enough on how to check.

Please let me know if you need more information and how to get it, as I am a complete noob when it comes to servers but I am trying to learn.

Thanks y'all

UPDATE: Some have suggested that my Syncthings server could have been the issue, however turning off the server has not fixed the issue and once again files got deleted.

UPDATE 2: I looked at the SMB logs and noticed a bunch of "Unlink" events that seem to be running every morning around 7am and go over every one of my media files. I am assuming "Unlink" means delete somehow, but I can't determine what is calling it.

UPDATE 3: It was Jellyfin deleting the media. I just caught it red-handed.

UPDATE 4: Final update. After deleting my installation and SMB share from my Truenas and reinstalling everything, the deletion issue is now apparently gone. As an extra precaution when installing Jellyfin, I made sure to check the "Read Only" for it's access to the SMB share to make sure it cannot delete any media even if it REALLY wants to.

Seriously, what's even the point of voting if a judge can overturn the voice of the greater majority?

Please don't auto downvote before reading.

A little bit ago some asked a question about why the hate of the blockchain, and that got me thinking if there even was a legitimate use case where the blockchain would be beneficial, but I couldn't think of one outside maybe some sort of decentralized bank, but before I knew I was thinking it would instantly turn into some crypto scheme and strapped it, because crypto currencies are a scam on every level -- and no they aren't private or secret as some think either.

So I wanted to ask the community. Instead of using the blockchain for crypto, is there a better use where the blockchain could benefit society?

Hey everyone, I was entertaining the thought of going away from owning a smart phone.

I already have a modded ipod classic that I use as my main music player.

I also know how to use a paper map.

I also have the Microsoft authentication app for work (I could just use my phone on wifi mode for this)

The last issue I have is WhatsApp where I communicate with friends and family around the world.

Is there a way to use WhatsApp on a non-smart phone? Or should I just buy a pixel and install a secure rom?

So, I have been giving this a lot of thought and come November I won't be voting for team blue or team red in the upcoming elections, but I will be voting for a candidate I belive in.

I have decided that my vote will go to Claudia de la Cruz because she lines up with my beliefs.

Some might say that I'm throwing away my vote and that this will just let Trump become president since I'm not giving Biden my vote, but honestly he doesn't represent me anyways and why should I vote for a party that doesn't deserve my vote anyway?

I hope Trump goes down in flames all the way to hell where he will have pineapples shoved up his ass while dressed as a French maid, but if the Dems loose in November, it won't be because me or many others just didn't vote for them, it will be because they did not do anything to show us they deserve out vote.

Sure Biden has done a bunch of stuff for the American people, but I just can't look away with the horror of what is happening in Palestine and be ok with him or other dems calling anyone who sympathizes with Palestinians as being pro Hamas or pro terrorism.

Sorry to anyone who isn't in the US and sees this post, I know the US politics are super annoying for you all, but I just wanted to get this off my chest.

TL;DR - I'm not voting for Biden just because Trump bad. I'm voting for someone who represents me.

Hi everyone, every time I setup a Pi project server I have a hard time since I can only access that device from the computer where I created the image since I add the SSH key during setup, but I would like to be able to ssh from my android and my other laptop in case I'm out on the road and away from home.

How can I add the other keys for the other devices to a single Pi without using the user name and password as this is also given me problems because ssh wants to try using keys and if it does not find them it just fails instead of asking me to enter the password (also, because it's not really safe).

South Carolina lawmakers appear close to approving a bill that would allow anyone who can legally own a gun to carry the weapon openly.

I don't feel safe any more.

Politicians constantly talk about stopping the illegal immigrants that are coming from Mexico, but putting a wall has never and will never be a solution since the reason why so many displaced keep coming across the border is mostly to escape the crime, corruption, inequality, and violence of they have to live in their home countries. The worst part is that most of these terrible things is that happen in third world countries are rooted in constant subversion by developed countries, primarily the US. I feel like since we caused this (even if in part) we should help stop it now, even if we didn't publicly admit guilt to save face.

So, how do we do it? Do we straight up invade Mexico and go on a full out war against the cartels like we did against Osama Bin Laden?

If not, why not? And, is there anything that can be done?

I would like to keep things civil. Please, let's keep this respectful as I know this is a tough issue and there is anger on both sides of this issue.
