This was slavery, in the eighties, and Ikea figured they could benefit from it (they 100% knew) and save what I suppose was an absurd amount of money

40 years later they pay 6 millions

I know many corporations are awful but we should't become desensitized. How can you still shop there knowing this

[on Fedora 40 & 41]

Hi,

I don't theme Gnome and stay with the defaults. However at some point a few months ago I must have done something that broke the theme for Qt programs: KeepassXC, QOwnNotes, Nextcloud desktop client, all rpm. I tried the flatpak version of keepassxc, no issue

symptoms:

  • KeepassXC starts in light theme, even when system is using dark. If I reopen it, it switches to dark
  • font became very small both in KeepassXC and QOwnnotes
  • there's something wrong with the windows shadows
  • taskbar icons show 3 dots instead of the apps respective icons. This is fixed with Fedora 41 for Nextcloud only
  • taskbar icons are unresponsive/won't work. half fixed with Fedora 41.

I tried a few things:

  • disabled extensions
  • reset all gnome settings
  • themed Qt with Kvantum (might have been a bad idea) (reverted)
  • installed a custom theme for the system (reverted)
  • removed some Qt stuff which seemingly weren't a dependency for anything

I also have a laptop running Fedora Gnome and don't have those issues.

What else could I try?

Thanks for reading!

an omelett, but the eggs haven't been stirred

I find this incredibly funny, still laughing, yet I'm not sure why

I just received a Kagi invite from a friend.

It's absolutely great

Let's hope they don't look too closely at how family plans are shared for now.
10€ + taxes a month is just too steep for me

Linux only (I think), only between desktop clients, and it requires a server.

In the short time I've tested it, everything worked.

Hi!

I like to have some preferred websites showing up as big icons in a new tab (4 rows of 8 icons each).

I had them pinned and rearranged to my liking but today they're all gone.

Before I try to recreate it as it was, maybe there is a good extension for a startpage? All I need is some big favicons (not any other feature like weather).

edit: I'm going through the extensions but can't find one that I like. Is it possible to make a backup of the pinned websites so if Firefox resets them I can just bring them back? It only happened twice in a few years but it takes a while to restore.

Even though the photo provided to HR was fake, the person who was interviewed for the job apparently looked enough like it to pass.

why not send an actual picture of his face?

For international flights, US citizens can opt out but foreign nationals have to participate in face scanning, [with some exceptions]

I had no idea we were already at that point.

always wanted to visit the US. I guess that won't happen then.

I refuse to participate in this dystopia. But I'm a little worried this will make me a recluse

They selected the most bold, smart, aggressive bears, put them together to form a society, and trained them to open ever more complex locks.

Luckily, the park is locked.

I strongly disagree with the decision to centralize all ukraine war news in a megathread.

That's not how information is consumed on a medium like Lemmy. What you're doing makes the topic invisible for the vast majority of users.
