About the only thing they've really embraced is electric motorcycles as they're quiet.

Hmm I had an older one (TCL nxtwear s), and I wouldn't be doing graphic art on it, but it more than sufficed for watching shows, playing games, and some light browsing.

If I was buying today I'd probably look at the xreal X1, they've made some great strides in the tech.

The cable can be snagged on things so it's nice to buy a model where it connects with magnets. Unfortunately for longer haired folks, your hair can get snagged in this area.

The actual experience is pretty decent, albeit slightly disappointing if you've grown accustomed to VR - but that is the price you pay for a much smaller form factor. Of course you can't have a fully immersive screen, it's "just" a monitor in front of you (and a fairly big one) - again for me, disappointment as I'm used to a 49" uw. 😅 For the use case given by the linked article, it would 100% perform exceptionally well.

It was really nice being able to lie down in bed or on the sofa, and watch whatever you wanted from your phone. It worked with my Nintendo Switch in a nitro+ which made for better posture whilst in handheld mode. 3d mode worked too.

I sold it because I didn't use it as much as I thought I would, and the one I had had could do with some more improvements. I'm sure newer models will probably make it a more compelling answer now.

It's not specifically "the" bar, but the original comment was saying they didn't see how Tesla would even be considered, and I felt this feature is one reason why someone may still consider a Tesla.

For me, my dash cameras have come in handy when my vehicle was running, but the hardwire mode has not been able to handle what I wanted it to. I want my next vehicle (whenever that may be) to be an improvement over what I already have. I have personally had my vehicles damaged more than once whilst it was parked, and I have always parked well. Sentry mode would have been very bloody useful to have the responsible parties pay up. Instead, I was left with a damaged car, which was notably rather heartbreaking when one incident occurred within the first month of ownership.

EDIT: My motorcycle was hit and if I hadn't had known, I wouldn't have been aware enough to take it to the shop to be inspected in case any of the internals had been damaged. Sometimes damage can be internal and without an alert, you would be putting yourself in danger.

I've had a Ford (mid range SUV) and a Toyota (base model sedan) which were both damaged whilst parked, and nobody left a note. Lots of people posting in the community groups about carpark damage and no notes being left, and no luck with local cameras.

So yes, it is needed.

I am unaware of any other EV that has sentry mode on the cameras like that on the Tesla. Would absolutely love to be proven wrong.

AFAIK Kia has a Korean only release EV6 that had it, but none of the other options utilise the whole suite of cameras to record.

Yeah I ran into these solutions but unfortunately I can't seem to find any USB-CEC adapter other than the Pulse Eight, which doesn't seem to ship to Australia in any economical manner.

I ended up getting a Flirc USB, couldn't get the existing TV remote to work with that (once paired with the TV it stops sending IR signals, and the TV wouldn't let me select the PC input as needing to activate the IR mode on the remote), ordered the Flirc Skip 1s... and now that's working well enough we're using the Skip1s as the primary remote for the TV as well. About 150AUD down the hole for this solution, and it's not truly turning the PC off, but close enough!

We sold our PS and now have a gaming PC hooked up to the TV.

Been a few teething issues with convenience issues like being able to turn it on from the couch, but the experience has gotten pretty smooth now.

Back in the day, the Galaxy Note 4 had this monster of a battery made for it by Anker, and yes it came with a replacement door. It was a beast.

Have you heard anything about Ninja? I can't seem to find much about SharkNinja and Trump other than comments about the tariffs....

They can ban you from using them as a business, which is often what these fines are about.

A lot of clinics have failed to attend fees which are pretty much kept not to ever collect, but prevent that patient ever booking again.

When you say sudafed, do you mean the real sudafed with pseudoephedrine, or is it sudafed PE with phenylepherine?

Make sure you get the real pseudoephedrine.

Very niche case use, and the only other related post I can find used a different pair of glasses.

Mine unfortunately can't just be plugged straight into the Nitro Deck+, but needs to have the included USB c to HDMI, then a powered HDMI to USB C adapter. It works fine (with audio) at that point.

The powered HDMI to USB C adapter I used was this one: https://amzn.asia/d/90FQYfo

I'm ordering a USB C splitter cable and hopefully that will reduce the number of cables needed.

Hope this helps anyone else who happened to have this specific issue. 😅

I figure I might as well post some stuff to the Fediverse.

I have a Meross MSG100 to add "smart" connectivity to my otherwise dumb powered garage door. To my pleasant surprise, Meross can be hooked up to Samsung SmartThings, and you can set a routine for when you arrive within a certain radius of home (100m is the smallest), it can then open the garage door. It can even be set to note if you've been gone long enough (I have mine set to 10 minutes).

For more precise location detection, you have to do a little finangling to get it to be hooked up to the Modes and Routines app where you can then also set a location setting that includes connecting to your home wifi.

The finangling involves setting up a virtual switch in SmartThings (as garage door openers aren't "supported" by M&R, but a switch is), and having a routine in ST linking the switch's state to the garage door.

If you don't have ST Labs (only available in USA and KR), then you can make a virtual switch using Samsung's own web ui: https://my.smartthings.com/advanced/devices

Anyway, we tested it this afternoon and it worked fine.

For those without a Samsung phone, this will be a lot harder to set up (if not impossible).

My backup options were:

  1. Getting my Cardo set up (whenever it arrives) and yelling Hey Google open the garage door, waiting for it to go 'sure, what's your pin', and yelling that at it... from like two roundabouts away from home.
  2. Buying and installing a Riders Magic Touch
  3. Buying and installing a Mo-Door
  4. Buying and installing the Garage Door Opener from Vizi-Tec (hooks up to brake line), apparently you do a zip-zip-zip-braaake on your brake and it activates it?
  5. Taking apart a garage remote and making my own version of any of the above, including like the FlashToPass/FlashToOpen (they don't exist anymore sadly) which activated when you flashed your high beams
  6. Tucking a remote into my tank bag and smashing the shit out of it
  7. Do what I've been doing which was stopping, glove off, open jacket pocket, fish out remote and press button, shove it back into pocket, glove back on, roll into garage

Anyone got any other unique ways of managing their garage door whilst on the motorcycle?

The context:

The British activist, who also goes by pseudonym Posie Parker, spoke at a "Let Women Speak" event outside Victorian parliament in March that was gatecrashed by neo-Nazis, who joined the anti-trans rights demonstrators and repeatedly performed the Nazi salute.

MP Moira Deeming's involvement in the "Let Women Speak" rally led to her suspension and eventual expulsion from the Liberal party.
