I watch a number of creators that YT has demonetized so I'm not worried about it.
YT can clearly see what people want in these apps. They simply need to provide the exact same functionality and set a price. They won't though because they want control and data as well.

Yes. He was justified in exposing their corruption and hypocrisy in a way they would understand. His house of worship was turned into a "den of thieves" where merchants were taking advantage of poor widows etc

This is where I differ. I think the algos and video recommendations are manipulative. I simply watch whatever is new from my subscribed channels and occasionally something from the related video section. Even if cared about recommendations there is no way I would value it more than the other benefits.
All that being said check out Libretube. I think it has the recommendations on the homepage.
Podverse! I'm pretty sure it's the only FLOSS app that has implemented all the podcasting 2.0 features. The only thing it's missing is Android Auto :(
