The masks are starting to fall off.
Are you referring to the Digital Markets Act that would force some large tech players to allow interoperability?
I think it's a great step forward, although I think it's only in 2024 that those changes will actually happen.
On the carpet you mean?
Read up on the history of... any emancipatory movement, really. Civil disobedience, strikes, direct action, have all involved some forms of violence (be it so-called vandalism, or direct confrontation between groups). Many in reaction to violence by the state or corporations (Battle of Blair Mountain!). Thinking we will achieve far-reaching goals without resorting to some sort of radical actions is ludicrous.
Coincidentally, I had a conversation about dating and climate change with a friend today. We both agreed that people showing off their exotic travel destinations have become a turn-off. Especially when they use airplane emoji's in their bio. On the other side: it does feel like some sort 'race' to show off those fancy place to communicate how well off you are, and not having pics like that may make you less attractive (but then again, why would I want to attract those huge polluters?). Dating gets you in a weird headspace, fucking hell.
These type of actions do have an effect in SUV sales though.
I've been encouraging some people of the subreddit, but just as a user. Seems like a good idea to me, it fits the solarpunk ideal too.
It's a nice instance, runs quite well in my experience (there are federation issues now and then, but I'm not sure what's the cause, could be the other servers or some incompatibility between versions). Hosted in Europe. Also not too big either, which was important to me (almost everyone is flocking towards a few 'flagship' instances, forming new silo's, which is against the federated ideal).
I don't have nor do I want shares in the arms industry. I'm not a fucking ghoul.
